My g35 2004 has progressively gotten colder and colder. Last winter it seemed that the heat hardly came on when idling in the driveway and it took forever to defrost the windsheild. This year the heat will not come on when idling at all. No defrost, can't drive in the morning with frosty windsheild. Some one said it might be the water pump, changing out the water pump is a big job for just a guess....any ideas?
Might be an airlock in the heater box. joe

The heater box was flushed.
Same problem for me. at idle it blows cold air but if you even rev it to 1500 rpm then you can feel the heat start to blow. As the original poster states this takes forever to defrost and is almost unbearable in stop and go traffic. The car never heats up.
I've taken it to infiniti and they claimed it was the radiator cap that did not have a proper seal..... yea whatever...

I have an m35 X 2006, at first I had no heat at idle. Dealer added antifreeze and bleed air from system. Heat at idle improved but still warmed up considerably when rpms were brought up to around 2500. Took car back under warranty still, Dealer replaced radiator, flushed system and bleed air from system. Car still has problem of much less heat at idle, especially at driver's feet, when rpms are brought up heat increases, however the only way to get decent heat at driver's feet is to set dual control to low temperature on passenger's side and at 90 on driver's side feet only. Am taking car in tomorrow for another attempt to fix problem.
No heat, no defrost until maybe an hour after starting the car. Is there a flapper valve that opens to allow heat form the heater core? Is it vacuum operated?
