SOURCE: how to replace 1996 dodge neon cv joints

Remove the wheel and the lower ball joint from the spindle. It will also make it easier if you remove the tie rod end. There is a large hut at the tire end of the axel. Remove that nut and washer. Take a rubber or brass Hammer and hit the end of the axel to push it through the bearing assembly. If it is really stuck, put the nut back on so that the nut is even with the end of the axel and uses a heavier hamer to break it loose. Once you break it loose, pull back on the rotor while pushing the axel to remove it from the hole it passes through. (Becarefull with the brake hose. If it is pulling too tight it might be best to remove the caliper and use a hanger to suspend it until you are done.) You will need a really BIG screw driver or a pry bar. Put the pry bar between the case and the hub of the axel and push in quickly and firmly to pop it out of the trans axel. It might take a few tries. If it resists look for a ridge and put a big screw drive on the ridge and use a hammer to pop it out.

Once it is out, reverse directions. Do not use the hammer on the new axel any where.put the end into the trans axel as far as it will go and then put the other end through the wheel bearing. Use the leverage you have with the rotor and bearing side to push the axel into the trans. You should hear it snap into place. Before you put the ball joint back on go to the trans axel side and use that pry bar and gently try to remove. if it resists it is seated, if it slides out, you need to seat it again. ONce you are sure it is firmly seated back into the trans, you can bump the ball joint and tie rod back together.

Good luck and be careful

SOURCE: 2002 Dodge Neon Fuel Pump Replacement

HI.Your fuel pump is an integrated part of the pump module, which also contains the fuel reservoir, level sensor, inlet strainer and fuel pressure regulator. The inlet strainer, fuel pressure regulator and level sensor are the only serviceable items. If the fuel pump requires service, replace the entire fuel pump module.

There is no access panel. You will need to, slightly, drop the fuel tank, in order to extract the module for replacement. This module it mounted on-top of the tank. the module is inserted into the tank.

SOURCE: how to replace a engine mount on dodge neon 05

There are 4 motor mounts on a Neon. You need a jack to support the bottom of the motor with a block of wood on it. 2 are easily replaceable, but there is one that goes to the middle of the front of the engine that is tricky, plus the transmission mount is accessed after removing several components, like the battery and tray. It may be better to have a professional take care of those "tricky" mounts.

1987 dodge w150 power ram overheats.could this be air in the coolant lines? I parked the truck because it overheated while driving it.the temp Guage went over 220 -230 by the time I shut it off and kept...

If the unit overheated and there was no coolant flowing into the reserve tank, then there is two possible issues that must be addressed immediately. Either (1) There was not enough coolant in the system. This is because when the coolant heats up it expands and will go to the reserve tank. The fact that there was going to the tank indicates that the system is less than full, or (2) The radiator pressure cap is defective.

I would flush the cooling system, clean the reserve tank, replace the radiator cap, and refill the system and retest.

How to remove coolant tank on 1996 neon

The tank itself IS easy to replace. Two nuts and its off. The hard part is getting your hands (and tools) on it to remove it.

You should remove the air box to give you some room to get it out. it will also give you more room to get your hands and tools on it.

If you have power steering (and you probably do), then the reservoir will be your biggest PITA to get around as it sits directly in front of the tank with about 1 inch of clearance. If you can get your tools on the nuts and still turn them, you will be golden.

If not, then you MAY want to consider removing the three bolts that hold the power steering fluid reservior on so that you can shift it out of the way, BUT, and this is a very big BUT, those three bolts are also EXTREMELY difficult to reach AND put back in, so I would strongly suggest that if you do that, be prepared for some major aggravation.

Do not overheat but shoot coolant out the reserved tank

I have found that this happens when I over fill the overflow tank. It should be about one third full to allow redraw of fluid when the car cools. Also check the state of the radiator cap. I would replace it if it looks corroded because if the over flow valve here is no good you would lose coolant back to the overflow tank and quickly run low on coolant, not to mention less cooling at lower pressure.

My reserve cooliant bootle has a hole. How do I get a replacement and what is the cost. Will this cause me cooling problems while driving without cooliant in the reserve bootle or tank.

Coolant reservoir tanks can be purchased at your local auto parts store and ranger from 29.00up to 39.00 depending on who you purchase it from.It could very well overheat on you and that is not a good thing for any period of time.

I have a 2001 chevy Malibu. Have problems with

Due to the complexity of the newer cars on the raod today!! what you are experiencing is Normal!!! since the coolant systems on the newer cars run at such a higher pressure and a high Rpm the reserve tank which has it's on drain hose for excessive overflow from the radiator allows the extra high pressure release from the radiator to back flow to the reserve tank and then out the reserve tank overflow hose on to the raod

I have little heat

the best way to clean out a heater core of gunk on a dodge neon is unhook the heater core lines from the fire wall after draining all the old coolant and then run a water hose to the heater core, do the top line first and then do the botom one after about a min. while the coolant is out replace the thermoustat.
