I have seen a spring on the window regulator which helps raise the window. Don't know about GM products made in the past 10 yrs.
You might look at a regulator at the dealer and see if it has one and if it looks like what you saw.

I am sorry, but the factory default radio in all 2005 cobalt models does not have auxiliary audio input jacks anywhere. I wish they did.

Thanks for using the fixya forums!

SOURCE: 2006 Chev Cobalt oil filter replacement

i have a 2006 chevy cobalt LT..and i just replaced my oil filter today!!! after several hours of looking i finally looked on the front side of the transmission block.to the left just below the air intake system is a hard heat resistant plastic black bolt topper.it is 1 1/4" in size..i bought a 1 1/2" size and a 36mm size socket torque wrench..both didnt work..1 1/2 was way too big, the 36mm was just slightly too big..took them back, replaced for the 1 1/4" inch socket and voila!!! is was rather difficult..you will need an extender and some good torquing to do to pop it..but once you do it will pop fine..oh, and you will need a 1/2" drive socket wrench.but the 1 1/4"inch socket..pop it onto a 1/2" drive socket wrench with the extender and you are good to go!!

SOURCE: how to remove inner window crank on 2006 chev cobalt 2 dr

the handle part of the crank is held on by a small ring, you will need a small flat head screw driver- i used a butter knife, as it works better- push the door panel back just enough you can see behind the round part of the handle, you should be able to see the foot of the clip, push it off, make sure you don't do this in the grass, the ring will roll when it falls off. **please note this is a flat ring and only about the diameter of your little finger**

SOURCE: window is off track

1. remove door panel, door latch handle and window crank unless it is electric, then remove electric control panel , usually on top of arm rest.
2, Remove insulation sound barrier (plastic sheet)
3. Inspect window for damage. If none is found, notice where the window normally slides up and down in what is called tracks. There is felt material inside the tracks.
4. Also look to see if the window has dropped out of the two crossed arms that have white plastic rollers on them. Be careful handling these arms because they are very sharp.
5. Look for small tabs holding track to door. Usually top and bottom. Loosen these screws slightly until you can move them back widening the distance between both tracks so that you will be able to slide the window back into the tracks.
6.Once the window is back in track, move the loosened track back up so its just touching the window, then retighten the screws.
7. Test window operation.
8. If the window comes off tracks again, window regular is causing problem and should be replaced.

Hope this helps.

it is much easier to replace the motors then to deal with having them off the tracks and chancing breaking the windows when you go over a bump you can usually find the window motors on ebay for under $20

My driver window has stopped working but the motor seems to still work maybe window is off track? i dont know how to open door panel to see whats wrong with it?

if you can hear the motor working but the winodwo is not coming up then it is probably out of the track.. there should be only a few screws holding the door panel on. remove it and put the window in down position. Then you can use your hands to work the window up. When you get it in the up position you can see through the door where the tracks are. Just lower the window back down in the tracks. But first put some good adhesive or silicone in the very bottom track that the windows rests in so that the window will stay attached to the bottom track.. once you have done that, raise the winding using the switch and leave the window in the up position until you are sure the adhesive is dry.

Front windows on 2006 Jeep grand Cherokee have come off track. Any fixes?

Remove door panels inspect for broken parts laying in bottom of door.Somtimes because of ice they can pop off track. If this is the case just put back in track and your good.If there are any broken pieces in door you will need to replace broken parts before windows will work.

I need to change my struts and I dont know if I need any special tools or presses

You are going to need a compressor for removing the coil springs from the old struts and putting them on the new ones. You are going to need top strut mounts as yours are old. You are going to need some big wrenches with extenders to get the bottom bolts loose. You are going to need an alignment rack as the car will have to be aligned when put back together. You will need someone to operate the alignment rack. Try and track down some "quick struts" for your car these already have the new coil spring and mount installed. Save time and money. Look on ebay.

2006 cobalt tire rubs on front spring housing

Suggest the front strut is bad. You should replace them as a set, if so.
(Also check the bolts at the bottom of the strut. The two large ones. Insure that they are tight. Look close with a light. See if the bolt head has moved. If so, it will have left a pattern behind, of where it was sitting)

Passenger side power window wont roll up

The problem may be in the wiring which if you pull up the carpet on the front passenger side by removing the door floor trim and lifting the carpet you will see the wiring underneath. Probably laying in water or has been. Look for splices in the wiring which will have corroded. Repair the wiring then check the fuse.
Another problem may be in the motor found inside the door. The brushes may have worn out. If so you need to replace the motor. Ususally the drivers side will fail first since it is the most used.
