Won't fire. Checked battery with voltmeter and load test, checked good. had parts store test starter, checked good. Replaced spark plugs, wires. Checked relays, fuses. Replaced fuel filter. Can hear the fuel pump prime when key is turned to ACC. When I turn the key to Start, starter whirls, the engine will make one turn like it wants to fire but doesn't.
Make sure that the belt isn't extremely tight and they the belt tensioner isn't liked up by pulling in the belt. It should move and spring right back. Make sure engine isn't locked up. And please explain what happen with the vehicle. The fact that you replace plugs and wires and fuel filter for a car that's not turning is throwing me off. So right now we are going all over the place. But definite look at belt and tensioner I've seen a few times that a bad tensioner will make the belt wrap around tighter inhibiting the engine from turning.
Got it! Now how about the ignition switch and or the park neutral safety switch. Have you looked at those? When it won't start have someone hold the key in the crank position while you probe the wire coming from the ignition switch to the starter if you got no power ther it could be cause of the P/N safety switch.
Yes but when it fails to start you may be intermittently loosing it. Or am I misunderstanding you? Does it turn every time? One other thing I know you tested the battery but how low did the voltage go when you load tested it? And how fast did it recover?
How much amperage is the starter drawing when cranking?
Hey I tried. Glad you found it.

Does the Van Crank over?
Have you checked the IGN Relays? 1,2,and 3?
How did the Battery test out?
Anything below 11.9v battery is dead.
So I suggest that you do not throw any more parts and check the battery again.

have someone to stand back by the truck why you turn the key to listen to hear if there is noise coming from the gas tank if it is then its not the pump then it maybe your fuel pump relay or the crank sensor give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

do you have compression on every cylinder? that may be your problem, that's the suggestion i'll make. pull each spark plug one at a time and do a compression check to make sure you have compression. if you don't have the tool, they are not that expensive to purchase. hope this helps you out!! although, if you do this test and it's good compression, i would lean more towards it could be out of time. meaning it could possibly have jumped time but you said the belt was good, it could have jumped a tooth or two which would mean a no start also.

Checked the tensioner, sprang back like you mentioned it should. I went so far as to remove the belt and check each pulley to make sure none were frozen and they all moved freely.
The plugs, filter change came about because because I was having a rough idle, power loss during cruise and back firing. I ran a fuel injector cleaner along with those changes and those symptoms went away. A few weeks later the intermittent starting began. When the problem came it took holding the ignition key a few extra seconds to get the car running. Then sometimes, I'd turn and hold the key, the starter would engage, the engine would move as if it was going to crank, it'd get one turn over, and the die. Leave it alone for a few hours, come out and it'd start right up and it would run 5-6 days (with several starts a day) in a row without any problems. At this point... fuel pump? I just had that changed about 18 mos ago, but it wouldn't be the first time a part prematurely failed.
If the starter motors or runs, that means there's power from the ignition switch to it, correct?
Ended up being a corroded cap rotor and bad ignition control module. Thanks for the help sir. Kept me on the right side of the engine and not in a fuel tank!
