2007 jaguar xk convertible top not latching

After accidentally killing the battery by leaving the passenger door open a crack I mistakenly attempted to drop the top immediately after boosting the battery. The batter was not yet charged enough and the top only partially opened. Now it won't open or close and the battery is properly charged. Any help?

Are you sure the battery is good, just because you charged it doesn't mean it is any good and reached full voltage. I also suggest you disconnect the battery negative cable for 5 minutes to reset the system.

SOURCE: we have just bought a 2007 jaguar xk convertable

this could most likely be caused by a faulty seal, this can happen to even the most expensive cars, and even more common if the vehicle is driven in high humdity areas. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Where is the battery located on a 2007 Jaguar XK

Hi, the battery is at the rear of the trunk/boot compartment, remove the floor panel (lift handle and pull the panel out) then remove the luggage cover 9the soft "blind" that is moved when lowering the roof) this lifts backwards and up. There are four small round "knobs" at each corner or the vertical panel facing you at the rear of the compartment (the rear of the back seats) remove these by unscrewing counterclockwise (they then pull out) the vertical panel will now come free when pulled to reaveal the battery in the top left hand corner, it has security bolts on the front retaining bar and 10mm bolts on both terminals and the right hand safety retainer. (NB the positive terminal is on the right, the negative terminal on the left) I hope this helps, regards, Baz

The sensor for the latch may be shorted or water is in the sensor, the sensor is most likely attached to the hood latch and to verify that just look for wiring and the latch and follow it to the sensor for the hood latch.
