hi, in the american database for alldata, there is no lancer in 1990, if your engine is dohc, or sohc though, i checked 2.0 and 1.8, both are 1.0mm - 1.1mm gap. shouldn't be any problem running at these gaps, most every mitsubishi engine runs at this spark plug gap.
perhaps you should 've checked the spark plug wire spark plug itself and the wiring going to the coil,there some many things that can cause a particular coil not to work.
there are spark plug wires in either top or side ,pull them off one at a time and change them with a spark plug socket mak sure you do them one at a time or you will get the firing out of wack thank you david southard
