The headlight switch is new, The dimmer switch is new, It appears to be a ground fault from Connector C201 through the A3 and A2 Connection. In the process of checking ground wires. One wire checks out fine, the other grounds have no continutity, so will futher check those but have to unwrapped the wires to follow them.

Additonally took off the steering wheel rechecked the dimmer Contacts look fine Note to those following this problem. When the tilt was move up and down at one point the lights would come on, but now that doesnt work anymore. Even removed the power distribution block (fuse box) everything checked OK there., so am back at the steering whell and dimmer switch. High beams work when I pull the dimmer..
    Any other suggestions welcome.

Further solution to those following my problem. The dimmer switch has piece inside which has a little triangle made of nylong with a piece to keep it center (piece of junk the way is made) This triangular wedge moves left and right when you pull the switch dimmer thus changing the switch contact so your lights will change from high beean to low beam. Well the piece that holds the wedge to keep it straight, broke. thus no low beams. So the lights are constantly on high beam, barring any other problems. I manually lower the high beams doward to simulate low beam luminace as to not blind oncoming drivers. However, I still don't have low beams because there is no power to the bulbs. (Yeah I checked the bulbs) So I must look for a break in S221 to C201 DRL (Day Running Lamps) are working and at night the lights come on automatically (high beam) But remember I lowered the beam. You can manually turn on the lights during the day(high beam) Headlamp wire whcih is dark blue goes through the underhood Accessory wiring Junction block (the fuse box) Connectors F10 to Coonector B7 then B7 Connects to A10 Dark Blue and white to the right low beam. The headlam dimmer wire is yellow (Circuit #10) Connector G201 has a black wire (ground) which connects also to circuit 1750 and S283 (Ground distibution cell 14) Headlight dimmer switch colors are tan and pink Tan connects to A2 Pink connects to A1 through connectors C-201 (Underneath the dashboard by the steering column) A3 yekkiw wire feeds the tan wire through the dimmer switch to 1201 Connector and Lt grren 1200 is fed from the high side of the dimmer to the pink wire (1200) through the fuse box engine compartment wire D11 and A10 (fuse box to the low beam lamp. If you can remember all of that, you got the problem licke.

yellow wire feeds the tan wire through dimmer switch. To all who submitted the simple solutions thanks, but the problem is more complicated, due to DRL and solid state circuits with no way of checking them except to change the parts. My motto, MAN MADE IT, MAN CAN FIX IT. More to come.

If you can read schematics, you are going to find out is not that easy to trace all of these wires. Buy yourself a non power tester for continuity checks 12 bucks at autozone. I am working on making the nylong wedge out of metal, so it doesn't break being an avid modeler, just need to find the right metal, thinking it could be made out of lead fishing weight with lots of patience, and a fine cutting dremel wheel. More to follow on this mod.

Did you check the headlight switch ?
The high beams working bypass the headlight switch so you can flash to pass another car.

1999 Buick Century Custom. Can a faulty ground cause low beams not to work? Had a mechanic check power is running all through the system. Still no headlights.

If the main beams work, it is unlikely to be a grounds issue, but you could check with a meter from the connector to the vehicle body.

The most likely reasons would be the bulb, the fuse, the relay, or the headlight switch itself.

2005 buick lesabre low beams not working at night daytime running lights work hi beams work dimmer switch works relays and fuses are good. what do I check now and how?

It's the dimmer switch. Which is called the multifunction switch or turn signal switch. Just because it clicks, doesn't mean the it is working properly. If you click and the high beams come on, then click it again and have no low beams, replace the switch. Daytime running lights are controlled by the Body control module.

Why are my headlights cutting out when i turn my high beams on?

The problem will be due to a malfunctioning headlight dimmer switch and a dimmer switch connector. Also check the high beam connector.

Head lights are out hi and low beam all other lights work great checked fuses under hood by fire wall and inside fuse block but all is fine

if you know for sure that the headllights do work(not burnt out),i`ve this happen before, then it could be the headlight switch not working on the headlight side of the switch,or the dimmer switch is not working not allowing power to the headlights on either low or high beams.

Head lights on 1990 jeep wrangle won't work

Ckeck the headlight connections they are notorious for corroding. Check the ground connection for the lights. Pull your dimmer switch back as if you were flashing a car to pass and see if they work there. If they do you have a dimmer switch problem.

No high-beam headlights

It may not be the switch; most hi-lo changes are via relay to prevent the higher currents from flowing through light-duty switches.

Locate the relay cluster (it might be near or with the fuses) and if they aren't marked, pull wach one of them and plug back in several times to wipe possible corrosion from the blade contacts.

If they are marked, look to see if the same relay is used elsewhere (part number should be visible) and swap them temporarily to see if the relay is at fault.

Some vehicles will use separate relays for hi-lo beams and another for flashing since that often turns on both beams momentarily.
