SOURCE: roaring sound comming from front of car

The deeper or bolder the tread cut will cause more 'road noise'. The only solution would be to replace tires with manufature recommended tread design. You could also increase insulation under your carpetting or spray on "body insulation" on firewall to dampen the sound.

SOURCE: struts were replaced but there is still squeaking in front

possible sway bar links, strut bearing plates (they sit on top of the strut), ball joints, tie rod ends. If the you can make it squeek by pushing up and down on the front, have someone do this while trying to narrow where the noise is coming from.

SOURCE: is it safe to drive car if brakes caught fire - still has lining!

I would suggest that you adjust your rear brakes. Most likely you have drum brakes in the rear. When the rear brakes are out of adjustment (caused by not using "e-brake" when you park the car. The "e-brake" when applied keeps the rear brakes adjusted with a self adjusting mechanism.) the front brakes have to do ALL of the work to stop the car. In this case going down a steep grade for a long time simply overheated the front brakes. When the front brake pads overheat they get "glazed" and don't want to work anymore. Most likely reason for brake pedal going to the floor is the brake fluid was boiling. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: 2008 siverado. Front-end humming. Sounds like

it is your wheel bearing. the bearing is a sealed unit so you replace the hub assembly. remove wheel, caliper, brake rotor.if it is 4x4 loosen axle nut. there are three 15mm bolts on back side of spindle remove these and slide hub out replace with new one. most hubs come with new wheel speed sensor so remove harness from connectors or if no new one remove the screw holding it in place to hub and slide out.

Burn smell near tires and strange sound too

it will be one of two things...............either your brakes are sticking on slightly (frozen caliper) and its heating up because of the drag.................or the wheel bearings are shot and heating up when you drive it.................. that's all it can possibly be.
If you aren't good with the tools then its off to the garage for this issue.

Coolant leaking somewhere unknown, have to add to reservoir every 3 days or so, strong antifreeze smell with a/c on. water sloshing sound in passenger side dashboard. bad heater core?

sound like a bad heater core! the heater core is like a small radiator that is usually locaded in the dashboard on the passenger side. now if the leaking is really bad you are going to see water dripping by the front passenger tire or if it gets really bad it may leak inside the car. in order to fix this problem the HEATER CORE must be replaced. good luck

I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer. While driving STRAIGHT, not turning...there is a horrible grinding/rubbing sound coming from the driver side front tire. I had the wheel bearing replaced on the...

If its not the bearing and your Mercury is front wheel drive, it could be the "CV" joints.
It could be both....

Is the wheel rubbing the brake caliper?

Is something like the wheel well liner rubbing the tire(airflow pushing it into tire)?

Jack the tire off the ground and rotate it by hand. Push in & out at the top, sides, and bottom of the tire. Little or no play is considered acceptable. If you get a "clunking" sound and/or a lot of play the bearing(s) are bad. (If front wheel drive, chock rear tires, put transmission in neutral so you can rotate tire.)

Hope this helps.

When i put my 2001 blazer in 4 hi and back to 2 wheel drive i smelled something burning.

Sounds like the solenoid actuator is getting ready to burn out, do your self a favor when disengaging the 4WD come to a complete stop and put the truck inreverse when disengaing this releases pressure on the transfer case also be sure that the tires are all the same size if they are not this can bind up the transfer case causing the solenoid actuator to work too hard. Even if the front tires have a lot of tread and the back tires sre worn bad this change in size if driving on bare pavement can cause binding, engage and disengage on dirt or snow to avoid this problem.

There is a rattle or creaking sound in the front driver's side wheel area. It's not really bad all of the time, but it is much worse in damp, rainy weather. When I go over rough roads, I can hear it and...

take it to a goodyear tire store or a other tire and brake store. midas where ever that offer free brake inspection. the bolts might be loose that holds the caliper on. don't let them fix it, just get a writen estimate. they want to find the problem so they can fix it. the dealer wants you to go away till the warrantee is out!

1998 jeep grand cherokee keeps shifting up & down when it is warm

You cannot drive with different size tires front and back, especially with full time 4x4's the tires travel different distances when rolling.. a one inch height difference translates to a three inch rolling difference...ten turns of the tire = a thirty inch difference in distance traveled between the front and rear of the vehicle..being all attached to the same point (the transfer case) there is no way to compensate, therefore something must fail or the vehicle will stop in a locked up (bound up) condition. The weak link is the viscous coupler in the transfer case...likely what has failed.

Bad sounds, bad smells from 94 ford explorer

Sounds like you may have a vacuum line off or ruptured going to the EGR valve. The burning smell is probably the catalytic converter. When the engine runs rich you will get a sulfur smell that smells sort of like rotten eggs.
