Remote Trunk Button Non-functional

I have a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, base model (P73)

On the two remotes that came with the car, I have four buttons on front, Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Panic. There is one green button on the side, which I don't know the purpose of.

When I hold down the trunk button, nothing happens, but if I try it a few times, the car horn honks 4 times and locks the doors.

Do I need to re-synch the remotes, and if so, how do I do so, or what else could the problem be?

(Note, the trunk button on the driver's door and the keys work just fine)

Do the other buttons work on the remotes? Does the Keyless entry code entered then pressing 5 pop the trunk?

Because this problem is the result of the attempted break-in, it is probably not possible to troubleshoot the electrical mixup without a diagram of the entire system. I recommend you buy a Haynes or Chilton aftermarket service manual which will have the diagrams needed to trace the wiring and put it back in order. These are available in any auto parts store at a cost of $18-$30 US and you will find it useful for other problems too since they are nearly as complete as the factory manuals and often have much better photos and illustrations since they are aimed toward us, the owner, not the factory trained mechanic.

When you turn the key to the on position you should hear a 2-3 second buzz coming from the rear of the car. This will be the fuel pump priming the fuel system. If you don't hear this buzz, you may have a bad fuel pump.If there was fuel in the tank when it was parked,it will have certainly turned to varnish by now, possibly clogging the fuel filter, injectors, lines, pressure regulator, etc.Good luck,

SOURCE: I need to get my 97' Crown victoria trunk open from the inside.

There should be a safety trunk release located on the upper rear window deck platform- a black handpull . If it is still intact- it should pop the trunk lid.

Need to pop trunk open to get keys out of the trunk on a 95 Ford crown Victoria

In some large cars like yours you can remove the rear seat back and open a plate that gives access to the trunk. Depending on your car if it is just a small access panel you will have to go on a fishing expedition with a magnet attached to a rod of some sort to fish them out.

How do I replace battery in remote for 1999 Crown Vic

Remote needs to be taken apart either by a small screwdriver, or by finding the small tabs on the side and separating the two halves of the remote. Button cell batteries.

My ford dont start how i reset swict fuelpump

The shutoff should be somwhere in the trunk area. Behind a panel on the left side I think. It will be a little black box and have a button on the top, if you push the button you'll hear a click. Good Luck. If this doesn't answer your question, please email.

Having a problem resetting my keyless remote in my 1996 crown cic any idias

I would try taking the battery from the remote for a minute. Once you do that, put it back in, and seal the remote.

Step over to the car, stand in front of it, and hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons for 15 seconds, or until the car honks the horn at you. It could be one short, several short, or any combination.

Some remotes also have the reset instructions on the inside of the back plate.
