SOURCE: i need to change my oil and filter on a BMW
The oil filter is located underneath the vehicle next to the drain plugand accessed through a removable trim cover. If I remember correctly the drain plug is a 7mm allen. The oil filter has a drain plug in it to predrain before removing the filter cap. I do not recommend removing the plug because it strips out sometimes. Instead you need to use a socket and loosen the cap slowly. Your engine will take 8qts bmw syn 5w30 oil. I like the factory oil because it is proven extended life oil. When reinstalling the drain plug make sure to replace the crush washer. Also, make sure to replace the oring on the oil filter cap and lube before reinstalling.

Hello , check the airbag contact sensor behing the grill assembley . They are located to the left and right of the grill almost to the headlight assemblies. Check the wires to them for corrosion and damage. Check the fuse as well. There should be an air bag testing wire or fuse in the fuse panel. DO NOT UNPLUG THE AIR BAG SENSORS OR HIT THEM !!

Check the fluid level in the tranny. If that is good try servicing the tranny with a new filter if that dosen't work I would think that the torque converter may be acting up.

Hi, the BMW SRS light can mean any number of things from serious to minor. Sometimes it's alerting you to the real need for a repair of a broken part, but sometimes it is merely indicating that a circuit critical to proper SRS operation was temporarily disconnected (i.e. while you were installing a stereo, alarm, racing seat or steering wheel). You're stuck staring at your SRS light light until you have time to go pay someone to diagnose and reset it or else you have to purchase a R5/SRS, that will be used to determine the cause of the SRS light coming up before proceeding to fix it
Examples of common situations that cause the airbag/SRS light:
If the airbag (SRS) light is on then it means there is a problem with the system. Working on the SRS can be very hazardous. For this reason I suggest you have this looked at by a professional. This is not a DIY repair. Far too dangerous for a novice to attempt to repair.
