The abs unit tells the ecu and the gearbox the speed and when to change gear if this is not working it could be one of these two the abs unit or the wheel sensor, the wheel sensor there are 4 of them in uk left front wheel is the speedo signal sensor, if abs system is dead i.e saying there is no faults or even connecting to a reader there is a fault. to determine the gear the gearbox needs the signal range sensor incorrect means there is a signal coming to the gear box but its erratic.

Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

hi,
take the tranny pan off and look for small pieces of plastic in the fluid. sounds like a sensor got chewed up inside the tranny and small pieces of plastic have been sucked up and contaminated the internals of the tranny. look at where the wires go into the tranny and try and look inside where the sensor pickups is poking through inside to see if it looks normal in there. its going to have to go to the transmission shop. hopefully it wont be too expensive. as sensors are cheaper to fix then bands and internals. get two estimates.

SOURCE: The diagnostic codes are: PO 722

Replace the transmission (gear ratio codes are 'absolute')... your transmission is unserviceable.

I have a 2009 T&C code p0731 will not engage in any gear fluit was low 1/2 quart not burnt. Changed fluid and filter and still nothing any help would be appreciated.

code p0731 refers to gear 1--incorrect ratio===causes ==wiring--TR sensor / switch---shift solenoid--transmission mechanical fault
TR ( transmission range ).
If it was working before the problem , and there were no unusual noises or shift patterns , it will be a sensor, wiring or shift solenoid fault
Take it to a qualified ator transmission service center and have the electronics checked out

Loss of power, transmission issues

code p0700 refers to transmission control system/MIL --malfunction===causes --wiring ---TCM (1)
code po740 refers to torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid--circuit malfunction===causes--wiring--TCC solenoid--ECM/TCM (transmission control module) (again)
code p0871 refers to transmission fluid pressure (TFP) sensor C -range/ performance problem==causes---wiring--poor connection--TFP sensor--ECM /TCM (yet again)
code p0734 refers to gear 3 ratio (po374 is gear ratio 4) incorrect ratio===causes --wiring--TR sensor/switch--shift solenoids--transmission mechanical fault (causes are the same for po733&734)
code po846 refers to transmission fluid pressure (TFP) sensor B-range/ performance problem===causes ---wiring--poor connection--TFP sensor--ECM/TCM (again). Give the clutch a miss as you still have 1st gear and if the clutch is not working you will not be going any where. Have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal mechanical failures (pump ). The rest are sensors are wiring connections , sensor and TCM. My bet is the TCM unit. Have it checked out. What ever you do treat any suggestion of a new transmission with a grain of salt until you are shown proof positive that you need one.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

My 2000 hyundai elantra is automatic it has a code p0734. which the mechanic explained me that i have to get the speen sensor replace and get new clutch because the 4 gear ratio is bad. pls advice what 2...

P0734=A/T 4th gear incorrect ratio. This has nothing to do with the speed sensor. If the speed sensor was faulty, it would also set OTHER gear incorrect ratio codes. My experience tells me the 4th gear incorrect ration indicates the torque converter clutch (TCC) is slipping and nothing more. Unless there was a speed sensor DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code), the sensor is not the issue (yet). The fact P0734 was set (trust the computer), the TCC is slipping (out of range). Question: Maintenance history may indicate the wrong transmission fluid may have been introduced. Hyundai's Transmission fluid is strictly SPIII... there is no substitute. The incorrect fluid will cause 4th gear slippage. Now, having said that, it doesn't mean the 4th gear (lock-up) clutch isn't worn out. Have a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose this issue.

The codes you have are all gear ratio error codes fordifferent gears. The most likely cause to see all of these codes together wouldbe an input or output speed sensor. If your speedometer does not work, replacethe output. If it does work, I would recommend an input speed sensor. Thiscosts about $25 and is easy to replace. The speed sensors are on the left side of the transmission. You willneed a 1" socket to replace them. Let me know if you have any furtherquestions with this van. We have actually owned a few of these, so prettyknowledgeable with them.
