The high beams are not working on the 1991 Buick Regal. We had replaced the collar switch on the column but not the combo switch for the stalk/turn signal/wipers which seems not to "click" when one pulls the stalk towards the steering wheel to change the beam mode. I busted the cosmetic housing of the tilt wheel off so I can repull the wheel and replace other things if needed. How can I tell IF it is that switch or something else? Thanks for any help.

you will have to go under the dash and put your hand under the dash to feel where the switch is. It is one plug and two screw to replace the switch. Pull on the leaver and you will see where it hooks into. Just take it off, and boy a new one at the parts store. Are buy the new one first, to see what you look for. Then you will be on your way to replace it.

light switch is probably defective - more power is being used on hi-beams causing breakdown in switch - get replaced

Did you check the fuse for the low beams? The high and low are on seperate circuits..
Good Luck...

sounds like your alternator could be givin up slowly, have a charging test done and after a full charge on the battery have it tested as well.

It could be the low beam lights have gone bad. It is very possible for only the high beams to work, by themselves. If they won't turn on check fuses.
