SOURCE: 1994 jeep grand cherokee power window problem

try replacing the master switch it maybe malfunctioning due to wear.or may have shorted out by getting wet or something.since it is the primary control for all windows and power door locks.

SOURCE: windows dont work with their own switch but will with the master switch

My wife drives the exact same car and there is something wrong with the push button that locks the other windows.  Even when it isn't pushed in for some reason it thinks that it is.  I know that is what the problem is, I just haven't fixed it yet!  I think that you just need to take the door apart and clean the plug.  That's what I'm going to try.  Let me know if that doesn't work.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

SOURCE: power windows only operate from the driver master

Check the ground circuits. Find out what wires are the ground suppllies. take a 12 volt test light from battery positive and probe the circuit if it lights up the ground is good is it does not bad ground. I would first check the wires in the door jam. where the harness from the car goes into the door. pull back the rubber cover I have seen tons of wire get damaged in there from the door opening and closing all the time. hope this helps.

SOURCE: 95 jeep grand, all 4 power windows don't work

they all actually switch by swapping grounds and the master switch is where it takes place

Testimonial: "Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction. I don't know why I missed the ground on the schematic. I now have 4 operational windows! Woo Hoo!"

2004 nissan sentra power windows not working. Replaced door master switch. Replaced power window relay. Replaced 30 amp fuse under the hood.

Look for broken wires in the driver's door opening. If you don't find any, you will need a test light or voltmeter to check for power at the driver's door master switch. For any electrical testing problem, you really need a voltmeter. You can check for power to the master switch on one single wire, with key ON. You can also use the multi-meter to check the ground for the power windows right at the master switch.

Where is the power window relay located on the '03 Buick Century? And could this be the problem for all windows to stop working at the same time EXCEPT the driver's window? Or possibly the lock switch not...

The lock switch is designed to keep the passenger buttons from being used. It should not stop the master switch from operating the windows - or at least, that's what the 2003 Buick Century Owner's Manual says.

After studying the schematics for your vehicle, Iwould say that the owner's manual is correct. The lockout switch only cuts power to the passenger switches. The driver's (master) switch can still power the passenger windows. If none of the passenger windows work from either the driver's door switch or the passenger switches, then the master switch probably has an internal open circuit causing this. There is no separate relay or fuse. I would replace the master switch. Be sure and check ALL switches with the lock on and the lock off to verify this before replacing anything.

1997 Ford Taurus - automatic windows The passenger side front window and driver side rear window won't open. The other two windows are working OK. Any suggestions?

nothing is common between these two windows that wound NOT affect the other two so with the information you provided it sounds like a defective master window switch

replace with a known good or do the following...
Remove the master switch
disconnect the harness from the switch
provide a good power to the harness pin #3 white/yellow
provide a good ground to the harness pin #4 tan/lt blue

again, assuming all the other window work with all the other switches then again it sounds like the master switch is the cause

Power windows quit replaced fuse under hood replaced fuse inside still have no power windows

#1 so many people make the mistake of pressing the window lock switch on the drivers master window switch, double check to be sure it is not engaged. If that is not the problem you can pop the master switch out with a small flat tipped screw driver & check for power with a test light. If power is going to the switch & the windows still won't work, replace the master switch. good luck

Ground goes through the master switch on the drivers side. Bad master switch can cause the other windows not to work. Don't forget to check the "window lock" switch in the master switch, which shuts off the other 3 windows.

How do I fix the problem of all 4 power windows

See if you have power coming out of the master power window switch when a button is pushed down. Remove a door panel and check for power at the window motor with the switch pushed. If you do not have power it could be the master switch. Good luck.

Toyota Camry power windows not working from master switch

Their are two fuses that power this system. One is a 15 amp gauge fuse and the other one is a 30 amp main power fuse. You can also check the power main relay, your ignition switch, or i could possibly be a fault in the wiring
