Ran out of gas, got gas and came back, cranked a couple of times(cycled on and off) engine almost started, next try will not even turn over. no click from starter, havebrand new battery and full lights, headlights interior etc, when turning the key it does not seem to cycle to starter as the lights do not dim. turning key recycles dash display as it normally does upon starting. all bells work, light on bell and key in ignition bell
I have had the exact same problem. There is an ignition lock that probably went off. There is a fuse box under the hood. The fuse that says ignition on it pull it out and put it back in. This should reset the ignition lock. Its a safety feature because the car thinks that someone was trying to tamper with it.

My 2001 Taurus won't crank but all lights are working fine, then I replaced the starter, but it only cranks, not turn over. I have not driven the car for two or three months. Battery seems to be fine, even tried to jump start it, only cranks. What should I do next? Thanks
