EPC stands for Electronic Power Control and it means that there is something wrong with your cars electronic systems. This could be a serious problem with one of your cars systems or could be as simple as bad wiring (especially if your car has any added after-market components).

2000 ranger4x4 got hit while parked. motor runs fine until you put it in gear. then it go in to a limp mode. truck barely moves. code is a p1747. fuses are all ok , trans pan is off EPC ohms at 5 .

P1747** EPC EPC solenoid circuit failure, shorted circuit to ground. Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. Short circuit - causes minimum EPC pressure (minimum capacity) and limits engine torque (alt. firing). With zero EPC - no engagements. If engagement occurs and then EPC goes to zero, then No. 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gears. Slips in 1st and 4th with high input torque. Go To Pinpoint Test
PINPOINT TEST D: ELECTRONIC PRESSURE CONTROL (EPC) SOLENOID NOTE: Refer to the Transmission Vehicle Harness Connector illustration preceding these pinpoint tests.
NOTE: Refer to the Transmission Internal Harness Connector illustration preceding these pinpoint tests.
NOTE: Read and record all DTCs. All Digital TR Sensor and VSS DTCs must be repaired before entering Output State Control

Measure and record the resistance of the EPC solenoid. Resistance should be between 3.7-7.2 ohms.

D6 CHECK SOLENOID FOR SHORT TO GROUND Check for continuity between engine GROUND and the EPC solenoid terminals with ohmmeter or other low current tester (less than 200 milliamps). Connection should show infinite resistance (no continuity).
    Solenoid Terminal EPC

  • Is there continuity?
Yes INSTALL a new solenoid and install the transmission fluid pan.

No REFER to the Diagnosis by Symptom Index in Diagnosis By Symptom for pressure concerns.

I have a 2003vw jetta the epc light is on and the will not come out of park nor the stop lights come on,I have already changed the brake switch and still won't work..

EPC light should have nothing to do with the shift interlock,(EPC is traction control) should be a small cap or plug on the console, near the shifter that has the interlock disengage button, usually done with a key, check shift interlock in the owners manual.

Volkswagen 2004 Volkswagen passat 1.8 epc esp motor oil pressure

Try pouring a 8oz bottle of regular alcohol into the gas tank, into about a 1/4 tank of fuel and take out on the high way and open it up ( floor the gas pedal and open up the pistons and let the alcohol clean the heads and this probably will solve your problem!

WHAT'S EPC MEANS ON THE DASHBOARD

EPC = Engine Power Control it's the engine control module yellow warning light.
You need access and erase the EPC memory by DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to reset the EPC, and turn off the EPC yellow light.

My EPC light keeps coming on and my car keeps turning off and the check engine light keeps coming on and the RPM is alittle over 1. and doesnt turn on most of the time! wat do i have to do or buy exactly? ...

Hi Ramiro, Before going any further you need to gather a little more evidence. Have the computer scanned for stored error codes. From what you describe your issues are intermittent and having the error code would significantly reduce the number of possibilities.

My 2003 monte carlo ls has drag to it when switching gears or shuld i say late reaction when swithching gears it takes longer then i think it shuld i dono wats rong

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.
Soft shifting, gradual performance degradation: Poor line pressure rise due to leaking boost valve, clogged EPC filter screen, failing EPC solenoid, or worst case: leaky seals throughout.
Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace. Also replace the boost valve and EPC filter screen and worst, replace the EPC valve when you service the transmission.
Thank you for using fixya and Try not to run or drive the car to hard or further damage could result.

Epc light is shown on dash board

Have you check to see if you have pressed your EPC button mistake? If not My tire pressure was low on my 04 beetle covt. on my drivers side rear. THis caused my EPC light to come on and the EPC to engage. But because of the location of the EPC button it is really easy to hit it by mistake I would check that 1st.

2004 Volkswagen Pointer After servicing the EPC light on the dashboard is illuminated. What does EPC stand for? How do I fix it?

EPC stands for Electronic Power Control - part of the dreaded auto computers.

My 1st suggestion would be to use a ODB II - analyser and read any codes in there. If you don't have one handy or with a friend, go down to a local friendly auto shop ie Checker and ask to borrow one of there's for a few moments.

Write down any codes and look up on the net. Reset any codes on the computer while you are there.

A stop gap method is to disconnect the battery on the car for 10 minutes and hook up again. This forces the computer system to reboot - that may cure the problem also.
