Replace the dimmer switch insid ethe dash it is usually separate from the headlight switch in these trucks. If not then get a known good switch out of a simial truck from a salvage yard before buying a new one and try that first. it could be that the wiring somehow got damaged. This is the only thing I can think of that may be of some help. the service engine light runs off the computer system where the other lights are illuminated from a separate circuit but if the dimmer control switch is moved and they work it is in that system...a short or a bad switch.

Died while driving will not start back up.

If the engine turns over more easily than normal, your timing belt is broken. That's the worst case.

Does your engine service light come on when you turn on the ignition? If not, suspect a bad ignition switch, blown fuse or fusible link in the ignition circuit (if this is the case, look for the problem that blew the fuse before blowing out a new fuse), or dead engine computer.

If the engine service light comes on, get an ODB scan tool and read out the engine data. This is often very helpful in identifying the problem. First, verify that you have ignition pulses; a failed ignition module may be your problem. Second, verify that your fuel pump is working and you have the correct fuel pressure (you may be able to borrow or rent a fuel pressure guage from a car parts store - be sure to follow safety procedures).

2000 blazer problems

Good day
You have to look in under the dash and make sure the connections at the back of the cluster is in place. If that is all good then check the fuse box and make sure all fuses are in place and working correctly.
Good luck.

2001 cheve malibu. The Automatic lights, fuel guage, power windows quit working. The radio comes on when you turn off the switch but goes off when you turn it on.

It sounds like a short in your ignition switch. I assume you engine will not start? Check your fuses because if it is a short it should have blown a fuse or you would have smelled burning isolation from the wires. If you find a fuse blown it could give you a starting place to start checking. If the ignition fuse is blown it is in the ignition, wiring, starter or ignition key switch.

2000 Jeep Grand cherokee Laredo wont start. Engine turn over . No noise from fuel pump with ignition on. Replaced fuel pump and filter.Turn ignition on- pump did not run.Jumped the fuel pump at the pump...

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered

On my 2000 chevy S-10 ZR2, speed 4 of my fan stopped working

It's not the motor, if you have replaced the resistor/relay and that didn't work then it is likely the switch.

Will not start, no dash gauges light except "low gas level"

I have a '99 dodge dakota, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual. While researching a no start problem ran across possible solution to this problem. If no guage lights show when key truned to on position then normally a bad ignition switch. With fully charged battery and working ignition switch guage lights should slight up then go out when ignition in "on" position. Try shaking the key back and forth.
