I just purchased the car this past Saturday; 6/17/2012 from a private owners on craigslist (never do again) and I noticed on Sunday a strong gas smell while driving. When I got to work today and turned off my car an enormous amount of smoke started pouring from the top of the hood and an enormous amount of brown fluid that looked like coffee with cream leaked from bottom of car. What could this possibly be??
Its probably old worn out antifreeze/coolant.. HOPEFULLY not oil...you need to contact a QUALIFIED professional...Hopefully new hoses, thermostat, (maybe water pump)and a good flushing will fix the problem..pray its not oil...you will need to have the car towed to the repair shop.. ask around..(friends, neighbors,(google search with GREAT reviews) and do not chose one at random...
Good luck..

AND THERE IS NO COOLANT ON THE GROUND? IF NOT THEN U MUST HAVE A LEAKING HEADGASKET.
SOURCE: Chrysler LHS Starter
The starter is located beneith the engine, near the transaxle and it is attatched to the engine by 3 bolts. You need to disconnect the battery, raise the car to get at it. The 3.3 and 3.5 engines take different starters. Rick
SOURCE: smoke is coming out from under my hood...checked antifreeze and oil so it fine
white smoke usualy tells about a leakage in the cooling. check that. dont forgett to refill. get it repaired or DIY. attention: could be really hot.
if it smells like fuel, a fuel line is broken. then dont drive any more since it can catch fire.
if the smoke is not white, go to the repair shop instantly.

a bolt most likely vibrated loose and is letting transmission fluid leak out. try finding it and tighten it back up. or your dipstick housing is loose and the pressure is allowing fluid to leak out.
