2004 impala gear is stuck - Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

Go to car service or car accessories shop and the service person will help you out.

If you are mechanically inclined, check the speed sensor. If you have easy access, remove and physically look at the gear. If good, then check with multi-meter while rotating gear with fingers.

use a plastic butter knife while hitting the eject button pry under the edge of the cd

You may need to put in a new ignition.

The solenoids are inside the transmission.
You may need a book and some special tools to make the repairs.

Idle air control motor is stuck open or is bad. It's on the side of the throttle body.

You may be able to stop and start the car in neutral using the parking brake. I'm not sure on the 2004. I would check the linkage and linkage cable first. It may be a much easier fix than you think. What gear does the indicator show you and is the shifter on the floor or on the column? I would still try to have someone go under the car and see if they can move the linkage manually to park.

The 2 aren't connected to each other. Tranny flushes are NEVER good. Have it checked for codes. Code 1811 (EPC) VERY common in those trannys cause hard shifts.

it might be the throttle position sensor is going out.or the cable may be getting stuck.

My 2007 Impala LTZ was stuck in Park. After trying several alternatives, I pressed the traction control button and the shift lever then worked.
