We have a '79 Datsun B-210. We just had the slave cylinder for the clutch fixed a couple of months ago. After the fix we had trouble putting it in 1st and 3rd. Now it's stuck in 3rd and won

Hi,if you are loosing clutch flued the most likely place is the slave cylinder as you have already replaced the master cylinder,its proberly leaking inside so you cant see it.
I mean all you have is one slave cylinder atached to a pipe wich attaches to the slave cylinder so if theres a leak it has to be from one of these parts.

There are only a few places air can get in the master cylinder and connections the pipe going to concentric slave the connections to slave or slave itself

Check your clutch master cylinder's fluid,it's located under hood in right corner,if low or empty,then your slave cylinder is bad and leaking,it's connected to side of transmission.Here's a link. Could be your slave cylinder again,sometimes they don't last long,had one only last 10 months,go check your clutch master cylinder's fluid,if out,then slave cylinder is bad and should show signs of leakage.Another thing it could be if slave cylinder is good,then check the clutch master cylinder.

To replace slave cylinder just disconnect the hose then undo the two bolts and reverse procedure to refit the replacement.

When this happend just a couple months ago to me it was the slave cylinder.

u need to have the dealer fix this, u will need special tools to replace the slave and master cylinder of the clutch

check the helper spring on the clutch pedal. You'll have to get down in the driver's footwell and using a flashlight look at the mechanism while you push the pedal down (and pull up). If the spring isn't missing or broken and everything looks okay, then change the clutch master cylinder. The piston in the cylinder is probably binding due to corrosion in the bore. I have an 1986 and had the same problem. Changing the clutch master cylinder fixed it.
