1992 buick lesabre hood release cable broke. I can't get the hood open.

I tried for an hour straight. I tried from the bumper in front of the radiator, and behind the fans on the other side from underneath the car. I can get my fingers around the cable. but I cant seem to pull it hard enough without it almost cutting my fingers. I need something to where I can get it open. I need the help.PLEASE!

If you can get to and pull the cable then get a friend to push down ******* the bonnet while you pull the cable
There is a spring around the bonnet bolt that make releasing hard work

SOURCE: broken steering collumn 95 buick lesabre

Okay well here is your most likely problem, the nuetral safety switch it's located on the transaxle(transmission where the shift linkage comes in)you can test this to make sure its working but it will require conituity tester,a parts store might also test it for free, this is a $100+ dollar switch,so if needs to be replaced check with the local salvage yards to see if you can get one used.0ccdc81.gif

SOURCE: 1995 buick regal hood release is not working

If you can reach it that's a plus!!! try getting up there with a can of wd40 or other solvent and spray it. Then have someone pull the release and while its being pulled, give the leading edge of the hood a quick downward bounce and in most cases, it will open.

HELP!! 1992 buick lesabre Hood release cable snapped. no way to get hood open..

You may need a professional to get this hood open, and it will likely need to be on a car lift. Try this if you are handy, try removing the driver side fender well liner for access to the latch.

I Have a 1992 Buick LaSabre. The interior hood release BROKE. Normal maintence I can't do anymore. How can I open the hood from underneath. I really need a diagram as I have to do this repair blind

When you say the hood release broke do you mean that you think that cable snapped? Or could it be that the latch is sticking. I had a very similar problem where I would pull on the interior hood release latch and my hood would not pop-up/spring-up to then have a lever under the hood pushed to fully life the hood to look into the engine. What I would say might be the problem is that if the cable is still intact then you might try pulling the hood release a few times to try to release the the hood so that it could spring up. Then (even if the hood does not pop up) go to the hood itself and shake it up and down. I just grab it by the grill and vigorously lift it up and down until it springs up enough to reach my hand underneath the hood to release the latch to be able to lift the hood.
Then you will want to get a can of WD-40 or some other degreaser with lubricant and apply that to the latching mechanism itself. In doing this it will break-up any foreign material on the latch and possibly the cable that would be preventing the latch from releasing. I would say you might want to apply the WD-40 on a regular basis maybe once every 3-6 months just to prevent future build-up/problems. If you have problems more frequently then of course you might want to apply the WD-40 more frequently than 3-6 months, you be the judge of this.
If this does not help then I don't have any other recommendations as I only know this to be a solution to the problem that I had that was similar. In closing, be sure to not get any of the lubricant/degreaser on belts or other parts that should not by slippery. I hope things work out for you.

My 1990 buick lesabre also has a heater blower problem and I have made it work in the past by pulling apart the connector near the blower under the hood and cleaning the connector. This time I can not open...

try reaching the hood latch mechanism thru the grille, or from under the car behind the front bumper with a long screwdriver or long pliers, or a piece of coat hanger or whatever.

The hood won't release to the safety catch on my 1992 Buick Lesabre. I am trying to find a schematic or instructions on how to release the latch. I have the grill off, but need to understand next steps.

Sounds like your under hood cable broke with grill off you should be able to access latch assembly and release it with a long flat bladeed screw driver.
