2005 audi a8 trunk + upgrades for ipod integration

When i press the button to close the trunk, it will close and then immediately open again. If i close the hood manually, it will shut (apparently). The light on the console will indicate that trunk is still ajar.
Because car senses ajar trunk, it won't allow security to activate when i lock the car doors.
Also,

any ideas on what upgrades are necessary for me to integrate my ipod with radio. Do i need to upgrade the MMI or the cd player?

I am experiencing the same problem with my 2005.5 A4. Has anyone found a solution?

I've got the same problem with My A8. Trunk only closes "by hand" and then not easily. I think something is "sprung" as one hinge doesn't appear to be functioning properly.

I had longstanding problems with my 04 A8 boot (trunk) lid. It was troublesome to close at times and finally started to fail to power lock down. Dealer eventually fixed it with new hinges - apparently originals arent strong enough and misalign. Technician claims impossible to realign successfully. Dealership had seen this problem with several A8s. There was a recall on many early A8s for this. Luckily my dealer had retained some from the earlier recall, as the quoted repair cost was otherwise UKĀ£ 800.

My **** will try to close...but reopen. Also, I can close it manually, but it still won't latch...and it's quite obvious that when you close the trunk manually, it's not alligned with the body properly.

I heard there were 2 "campaigns" and 1 service bulletin....hopefully our cars are covered with that. 2004 A8L.

I had exact same problem, but what I found out was a three step solution to the problem.
1) The trunk lock above the trunk lid tself - sometimes looses coiling retention for the lock to work properly, which in effect does not properly lock wrap around the pull down electronic unit located in the body of the car/trunk that catches and pull the trunk lid down SOLUTION: check and make sure lock is works properly. you cab check by opening trunk and locking it with remote key, then pry the lock with a screw driver to see if it unlocks or stays locked

2) The motor catching unit in the body of the car/trunk that catches the lid and draws it down can be off balance (sitting too low to catch the lock (upper trunk lid with lock) to pull it down and stay locked. Have a mechanic - Audi preferrably, check the positon and allignment to adjust it, so it can catch trunk lid and lock to stay locked. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Audi A8 a/c compressor wont engage i have voltage power to the system

You have applied 12 volts and a good ground to the compressor magnetic closing coil from the battery and it still won't close and engage conpressor? it that what you are saying? If so the magnetic closing coil is defective, you will need special tools to pull it off and replace it.

Trouble with trunk lid staying closed goes down but comes back up

Please make sure your keys are not in the trunk because there is a safety mechanism that will not allow the trunk to stay closed if the keys are detected in the trunk. The other issue will be if the hold down mechanism is not pulling the trunk completely closed once the trunk engages the lock. You will then have to have it serviced to make sure the pull down motor is operating.

Trunk wont stay closed

Several times I've been able to fix this problem by tightening the bolts that hold the trunk latch.
If that doesn't work, order and install a new latch. After fixing the latch, find a friend, and
get into the trunk, and make sure that the emergency release (for trapped children) also
still works.

Occasionally trunk lid won't lock on my a8 2006. When closing the lid is lifted a little on right hand side before falling into place. Even if I turn the central locking on the lid OFF it will open...

The locking mechanism either needs replacing or cleaning and lubricating but more often than not it's likely the striker pin needs readjusting to bring the lid fully shut.

Trunk will not open

the frame on the drivers side door as you look down, there is a button the pops the trunk. However, if you cannot open it with the remote, it is not likely that this will work as it uses the same mechanism to open the latch. I would definitely unlock the doors with the key, go to the trunk and make sure the the lock is in the "unlocked state", ad press the button in, it should just open
