SOURCE: 1997 Bonneville lost power going up a long hill

The only thing that comes to mind is the catalytic convertor in the exhaust system. It can become restricted, reducing flow in the exhaust system, which also reduces engine power. These convertors run at fairly hot temperatures, and the extreme heat and conditions aggravated,or overloaded it.It's not very expensive to have it checked at a reputable muffler shop.I have seen extreme instances where this caused parts of the exhaust system to turn red, glowing hot.

SOURCE: I have an electrical problem.

well the window and seat problem is probably a broken wire in the harness between the door and body open rubber boot and inspect and repair
the fuel i would start by checking for power at connector back by fuel tank you should have power with key on for about 10 seconds then turn key off and wait for a few seconds and try if you have power it is probably the fuel pump

SOURCE: 1995 pontiac bonneville stalls

I just went through lots of troubleshooting and expense on my 1996. Whenever I would lift my foot off the accelerator and was below about 30 mph, the rpm's would starts jumping around and sometimes it would stall. If I gave it a little gas (accelerator), I could sometimes keep it running. It also backfired once in a while. Starts right back up. Also, if I let it idle while in part, it would die after 1-2 minutes.

I ended up finding a hole in the fuel regulator. About a ~$70 part if you get an AC Delco, but very simple to change.

SOURCE: 1997 Bonneville stalls and dies on the road

Shell has had issues with contaminated fuel in the past cant recall what it was but it actually damaged the fuel pump. I hope thats not the issue here can get costly in some cases fuel pumps on GM are a whole assembly. DOes the gas gauge still read properly? This was a big tell with the contamination last time. Gauge would read empty even when full.

Just purchased a 94 Sunbird SE for my son (today) Started fine. Drove for 15 minutes. Shut it down and it sat for 1 hr. Started again after registration and insurance. Drove for 10 minutes. Stopped once...

Take it back to where you got it and make them refund your purchase price. If they refuse and you finianced it go to them, There a law called "The Lemon Law" that makes it unlawful to sell something like that. Sounds like you sure bought one. Don't do anything to it just get hold of the place where you bought it and tell them to come get their junk out of your yard! dhgill1949

Has 220,000 miles on it. how much longer will it last before engine goes out

Nobody can answer that. There are lots a variables. How well do you maintain it. How many of those miles are highway miles. What climate do you live in? Sorry I wish I could help more. The 3.8 Series 2 engines usually last a long time if well maintained.

I ave a 994 pontiac, bonnieville. about a week

there is probably a dead spot in the fuel pump, and when it is hot and you shut off the car it will not run.Next time the car does not start, bang on the gas tank with a piece of wood or spray some starter fuel in the throttle body. if it starts,it is a fuel problem.
use a spark tester to see if there is spark as well.ignition modules and coil packs are common on those cars,as well as the EGR valve getting stuck.that will cause the car to idle ok but die out as soon as 2500 rpm is reached.

Engine started dying after serpentine belt replaced. Had mechanic check codes, none showed up. After picking up the car, drove 5 miles, engine died again frequently on way back to machanic. He drove and...

If I remember correctly, the serpentine belt change on this motor can be quite involved. It may require the battery being disconnected to avoid shorting out cables. Check for loose battery cables especially on the negative side where it is secured to the engine block.
