Car stalls while idling, now it wont start.

Someone took out the O2 sensor and when we started it, it worked for a while. The same problem occurred a few more times and was fixed by unplugging this sensor. The last time this happened, I was not so lucky. Is the sensor bad? Or could it be another problem? Additionally while driving the car, it hesitated to accelerate, almost as if someone was pinching the fuel line, however after the car ran for a while, it accelerated fine. Could this be related as well?

You need to check the error codes (DTCs) to track down the problem.

SOURCE: 95 Ciera Hesitates & stalls when warm

Change the IAC the idle air control. You may be able to clean it and put it back on.

SOURCE: I have a 96 Old Ciera, feels like it's

Had a similar problem that also caused the power brakes not to function. I believe there was a problem in the vacum fittings that was causing it to lose power but I am clearly not an expert.

After running with bad o2 sencor for 2 days, starts stalling and idling bad why does my car run badly after new extractors and o2 sencor?

Find out why the light is on. Maybe you broke or dislodged a connector when you replaced the sensor.

Idling problem

check the air intake sensor and the O2 sensor for fouling or damage. If you removed the cat convertor the O2 sensors will not work correctly.

Usually starts & idles ok until it warms up then when you hit the gas it stalls. Then it's hard to start and you can't give it gas or it will never start but if you keep cranking it will...

yes it will. Also the EGR system may have a problem now too. When a o2 sensor goes bad it can destroy the egr valve and the map sensor too

98 taurus trouble idling

I would replace the maf sensor first. It is cheaper. It controls the air fuel mixture for your car and sends this signal to your pcm.It is probably not getting enough gas to idol your car.

I HAVE A 1998 VOLVO V70 THAT KEEPS STALLING. TWO DAYS THE CAR STALLED. WE HOOKED IT UP TO THE READER THE CODE WAS MAS MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR SO WHEN I DISCONNECTED IT IT FINALLY STARTED AND WOULD IDLE ONLY....

I had a similar problem that stalling when slowing down to stop and removing the foot from accelerator pedal. This had been ongoing for almost 6 months. I have taken it to the big service companies who spent hours changing lambda sensors etc....After doing a bit of investiagtion seen that other owners of same car had the throttle valve cleaned (apparently this is required every 30K). I took it to our local one man garage. He reported that he fiddled around with throttle valve using solvent cleaner and general poke around for approx 10 minutes. Since then the car has worked perfectly and has not stalled since. RECOMMEND - MUST CHECK THROTTLE VALVE CLEANED.

My saturn 2001 stalls at stop lights when in idle

your stalling problem could be the egr staying open a peice of carbon will keep it from closing easy to remove and check to see if the pintal is seated or a large vacuum leak will cause havoc with the idle system hot restart problem either the fuel pump or most likely quad driver module a sorry that one cost a few dollars

Throttle/Idle/running problem - wants to run too fast, or stall out

RPM's up and down check EGR valve and sensor. EGR valve and sensor control idle. That's why your getting the surging on rpm's and this could be giving out the other codes. If mass flow was bad car will not start and the same for the map sensor. O2 sensor measures gas and air for right mixer. TPS controls 0-60 speed as in throttle respons.

Check Engine Light is on. Pops O2 sensor but car is acting funny.

This sounds like the loss of electrical power because of the lights.Any chance of a broken engine/transmission mount allowing to much movement and breaking a connection? Along this same line, look for a vacuum leak that occurs while in gear. If the o2 sensor code is for a lean condition a vacuum leak could case it and the drivability condition /stalling you are getting. Hope this helps and rate me please!!
