1999 ford f350 diesel
My fuel gauge quit working suddenly. The truck has over 200,000 miles. The rest of the gauges work fine. The gauge reads empty with the fuel pump light on all of the time. Is there a fuse to check first?

I had an identical problem like this one you are experiencing. You can solve this quite easily, check all your fuses, replace any that are burnt out. Double check all your wiring in the cab or in the hood.If this does not help you, be sure to keep your tank full.

I'm assuming this has dual tanks, do you know if it is not working on both tanks ? Most people would check the circuit for the gauge at the tank. The sending unit grounds the gauge on the dash.
check a site called "aboutautomobile.com or aboutautomobiles.com" Enter your year, make, etc. and get results for technical service problems, complaints, and resolutions. This will show you if there is a common problem.
There are sometime two temp sensors on a vehicle which is common in your trucks year. One going to the computer and another going to your gauge. You could be replacing the wrong one.
this happen to me and when i checked the fuses under the steering wheel 2 of them where blown after replacing them the accelorate began to work the fuses kept blowing out so the solution to this problem is disconnecting wire that connects to the fuel bowl (this heats up your fuel before you start the truck)
i have had this problem before these trucks are famous for the fuel gauges not to work in the back of the dash panel there is a nine volt battery that runs power to it and might be dead
If everything keeps going like that then it sounds like its a problem with the onboard computer. The computer controls all the guages and would explain why they all fail at the same time.
Fuel gauge on full is usually a bad sender (in the tank). 0-400 ohms should give a reading (200 ohms is half a tank - not sure if this is the exact number). Bad connection could do this, too.
