You have a broken or stuck temp blend door in the heater case. or the servo motor is broken. this sits on top of the heater case

2001 Mercury Sable 3.0 v6 heating problem had a flush done and changed the thermostat put new coolant in, replaced heater core, replaced blend door what else can it be

First make sure you dont have an air lock in your heater core and make sure you feel heat from the two heater hoses if you do fell heat your problem is under dash. If the hoses are not hot you have a blockage some where you may have a heater valve not operating it works by vaccum if u have AC look in the engine compartment or it maybe under the dash by heater core, I belive its in engine bay by Ac and heater boxes

2002 Merc Sable wont blow air

I'd have to say it's the blower motor. Does it blow hot air when the heater is on?

2002 Mercury Sable heater does not heat up. It throws out cool air. We've flushed out the core. Any suggestions?

There is a heater blend motor that is directly behind the dash panel, center, bottom, by the floor. It has four 5/16" screws, and a 6-pin wire connection in the center. It takes about 5 minutes to change it out and the part is $42, give or take a few dollars for taxes.

The blend door is what switches the air to hot or cold

Make sure coolant level is full.

I have a 2002 Mercury Sable 3.0. I noticed when

The clicking noise is the motor for the "blend door". The heater core and the air conditioning side share the same ducting. When you move the knob a small motor moves the door letting the respective hot or cool flow happen.
The heater core is probably blocked. The engineers at Ford have the coolant hoses bypassing the core with a WYE at the firewall. The coolant takes the path of least resistance and stops FLUSHING the heater core and it eventually clogs.

Hello. You are in luck. I just had this same issue in my shop this week. We changed the thermostat, and replaced the coolant. Fixed it right up. Since you did not mention a new thermostat, that would be my next move, if I were you.

Car is running hot occasionally and the serpentine

Well there's only part that has to do with the cooling system and serp belt - the water pump!! Maybe it's starting to seize or has too much play. Either way, when you change the water pump, replace the thermostat and flush the system very thoroughly, those 98-99's are notorious for rust build up. Make sure to pull the heater hoses off and flush the heater core too. After all said is done, purge the coolant and make sure there is heat from the blower. If not you're going to have to replace the heater core because that gets clogged sometimes when flushing.

2002 mercury sable

The blend door that regulates the airflow over the heater core may be stuck in the AC position. It is inside the case and is most difficult to get to. There may be a YouTube video that may help you locate it and test it.
