The car needs to be up in the air, you will need a good hydraulic jack, safety jack stands and a full set of hand tools with socket U joints and varied extension sizes. Support the oil pan with a jack and a large flat block of wood and release the tension on the "through" bolts of the mounts, then slowly raise the engine off the mounts and unbolt and replace the mounts.

Sorry for the delay. I am personally going back to answer your unanswered question.
I do not know if you still need the answer, but I am going to answer it in case you still do.

Click on the following direct Link. It has the Serpentine Belt Diagrams that you will need for your specific engine size and options (AC/No AC...etc).

To answer your direct question: Yes you have to remove the Engine Mount. Scroll Down and see Diagram #G00286624 on the Link.

SOURCE: replacing motor mount

Put the car on ramps. Using a floor or scissor jack and a block of wood, find aa appropiate safe place to jack up the motor to relieve the tension on the motor mount you wish to replace. Remove the old mount and replace with a new one.

SOURCE: how to replace drive/serpentine belt for '97 buick

You don't have to remove the mount. Go thru the wheel well on the passenger side and remove the motor mount bolt just right of the crank pulley. Then remove the stud that the nut was on. Then remove the sleeve that the stud goes thru. Then you can change the belt.

The starter relay is mounted on the starter. To replace you must remove the starter motor which is on the front side of the engine at the transmission bell housing. Make sure you disconnect the battery negative cable before you start work. Mark all starter wires and where they go on the different starter posts.

I have a 1999 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, the super charger belt needs to be changed along with the seized pulley located behind the motor mount. The mount is located above the crank shaft, attached to the...

I do have a question for you, if you remove the motor mount, can you change the pulley? If this is possible, you will need some jack stands, pieces of 2 by 4's and a hydraulic bottle jack. loosen the motor mount nuts and bolts( don't remove yet), with the bottle jack and a board, lift up the side of the engine(just enough to take pressure off the mount. now remove the mount. lift just a touch more, and set up the jack stands with boards on them(to support, and not damage the engine. also safety first). now lower the engine to the boards replace the pulley, and now go up with the engine, and replace the mount. I've done this on Toyota's,and think this may work for you also. hope this helps

Think my flywheel is sticking. i got my transmission rebuilt & engine replace in a 1991 buick regal & now my car vibrates when its coming to a red light or taking off.

It could be the harmonic balance is warped or the rubber has slid or deteriorated. Also one of your motor mounts or (dog bones) could be bad. If one of the mounts are bad it will cause the car to vibrate. Have someone to get in the car and put the car in drive with the brakes pressed and press the gas pedal a small amount. If you see the engine move on one side or the other, the mount is bad on the side that raises up. Do the same process with the car in reverse. These may have been damaged when the trans was taken out, some people loosen the mounts, take them off and some don't ever touch them to remove a transmission. This is what I would check first.

93 buick park ave Ultra. replacing water pump...must I remove the front passenger side motor mount??

Yes. Put a jack under the motor and remove 3 bolts from side of engine and the long center pivot bolt in mount and the 2 bolts that go top down into the frame and loosen the 2 bolts below mount. Jack up the motor until you can separate the mount, leaving the engine side in and removing the frame side. The engine side can be moved out of the way without completely removing.
