My Jeep cranks over, will not start, odometer sometimes reads, "no bus"' hook up code reader, no codes all checks good, not hearing the fuel pump, new fuel pump (6 mo), intermittently starts, when I hear the fuel pump I know it will start. In a "no start" condition, I have no fuel pump, no gauges, odometer will give it's normal digital reading or read "no bus"', intermittent check engine light, the engine will crank butbwill not start. We've already replaced the CPS, ignition switch, reseated all the relays, and now checking pins on the connectors to see if they got pushed in....
Check fuses first, but could be needs new CPU
Testimonial: "Thanks for your help, we checked the fuses even swapped out the relays. The CPU was a thought but someone else tried it and it didn't work. Might still try it though. Is there any other symptoms that would indicate the CPU is bad? We changed out the ignition switch, 135.00, changed the CPS, 42.00. I hear the CPU is about 150.00. When we run the tester it comes back with no error codes."

If the data link is not talking to the computer check your ground at the computer and at the data link connector to see if the computer is even alive ground pin 3 on DLC with the key off then turn key to the run position if it flashes the check engine codes record them, if no engine light, does the engine light come on when you turn the key on then go off? if not, check fuses if not check power for pin on computer, if it has power you have a bad computer. But TEST THE GROUNDS IT IS THE BIGGEST FAILURE For these rigs or any manufacture. check that you have power also at the DLC too. if not you need a digital ohm meter and a subscription to http:///.www.alldatadiy.com and start reading the campaigns on that vechile for computer and trouble tree for dead DLC and computer. I don't have that subscription or I could tell you more where to look, if you need anymore help let me know. Also if the crank sensor could cause it not to run the fuel pump but so can the cam sensor. You need to find out if the computer gets it's pulse for the pump at the computer if it does then you need to test them both. There are three wires a ground a colored power wire and a wire to go to the computer you can test these sensors with a meter to see if there is a pulse to each. sometimes the fuel pump gets it's signal from the coil pack so it's important to have the subscription, you can do a search for each item and test them as needed and has a wiring diagram.

No pins appeared to be pushed in. Other sites say a possible lose/ corroded wire/connector behind the instrument panel may also be the problem. Tried reseating the connectors, checked the pins, no visible corrosion or oxidation. No meter movements while moving the connectors, has 12v at the connector.
Okay, here is a more detailed description of the issue I'm having. The engine cranks over, no gauges seem to have pwr, I get the usual idiot lights, then after about 30 seconds the odometer reads "no bus" and the check engine pic comes on. We' ve reseated all the grounds, replaced the CPS and ignition switch. Also swapped out some relays on the pssngr side engine compartment. Didnn't swapped the CPU yet. Any suggestions? Engine use to intermittently start but now it just keeps cranking. I looked at some other similar issue, and they say the fuel pump is pulsing/priming, mine does not prime up at all.
Yes! Yes! Julie delles you are the best! Had to finally take the rig to a specialist, within an hour of testing determined the CPU to be the issue. Costing 750.00 to have the CPU replaced and re-flashed. The techs say this is a common problem with the wranglers with this type of CPU mounted on the firewall (exposed) verses the other models where the CPU is sealed in a container or box of some kind. But thank you for your advise!
