The display does not show anything except 3 or 4 rows of white squares. Once in a while a sound will alert me something is wrong but the digital is not responding. Also the digital on the radio is not working...it is sometimes letting me know the time (correct) and the station but this is a rare occasion. also the overhead lights do not work. What is going on???

there are many sensors and and each airbag have sensors so you will have to get it scanned to know where to start. just a note air bag parts can be very expensive so check out your local salvage yard. they can save you hundreds. good luck

I found a solution that sounds reasonable at another site: http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic177704.htm

hello rich if you dont own a obd2 code tester then you can take your jeep to any auto parts store like auto zone and thay will use there tester for free and tell you what the faults are on your jeep and how to fix it and if its a sensor or what ever there also have the parts you'll need to replace.thay also sale the testers if you want to buy one for future use thay can run any were from 60.00$ -150.00$ but i just have them use theres for free to check my car.

Could be a vacuum issue or the modulator..
The modulator tells it when to shift and is controlled by vacuum presure..
Check all vacuum lines that rum from the tranie for cracks, spits etc..
it could also be a sensor..
Hope this helps !!
