JUST BOUGHT FROM DEALER...3 DAYS AGO. DROVE 3 MILES TONITE TO STORE. NO ACCESSORIES ON. STARTED CAR IN PARKING LOT TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THAT HUGE WARNING SYMBOL STAYED ON THE PANEL...CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE (not warning) BUT FAILURE. I DROVE 3 MILES HOME...THAT WARNING WAS GONE BY THE TIME I GOT IN MY DRIVEWAY....now what :( I was planning a trip with my new OLD van and now am terrified that it will break down on me with kids and dogs in the car....the Dealer is not close by or Id stop over there. I read that it can mean a GENERATOR BELT? Or the electical system has a failure. GREAT ..since everything on this van is electrical. HELP....thanks. It has 63K miles on it. Also there is a continual pinhead size blinking lite just above the knob on the CD player that flashes when I turn OFF the van. I have never used the CD....what is that lite...cant find it in my manual? Thought maybe that draimed my battery but the Info Menu says battery is ok????

sounds to me like your coil packed it in or your timing belt ( chain ) has jumped a tooth. If you have access to a scanner run a diagnostic check on your car to see if it comes up with any trouble codes.

CHECK your Distributor....Or have YOur alternator, starter, and battery professionaly tested at your local pepboys...If you bring in your parts on hand its free....if you bring in you vehicle then it starts....
SOURCE: 97 Chevy Blazer - good battery, good alternator...still dies???
if you removed the dome lightbulb then there is no longer a draw from the battery there but if the ashtray light light does not go out then over a period the battery will go dead or drained to the point to not the vehicle
SOURCE: new battery and alternator. Battery still won't hold charge
Check all your fuses if you had a system failure it could have blown a fuse. I am not sure on your vehicle where the fuse is in the car or under the hood it could also have a relay. You can check your alternator by checking the voltage at the back of the alternator where the big wire bolts on. You should have 14+ volts at the alternator.
