How to fix cruise control on 2006 Cobalt

Sometimes the cruise will set and sometimes it won't. Is it the switch on the steering wheel or something else. The light comes on on the left side of the steering wheel showing the cruise control is turned on, but most of the time the set on the right side does not work. We have tried the lifting up on the break pedal thing and that doesn't work either.

Sebring 2006 cruise control problems.... sometimes it works and then other times the light comes on till ya set your speed then it shuts off??

The most common problem is that the ribbon contact in the drum under the steering wheel has a defective circuit filiment. The part is referred to as the Clockspring contact.

When I go to put the cruise on it does not light up if i turn the steering wheel half way it will work sometimes but the light goes out again

Sounds like you might have an issue with either your multifunction switch or possibly your clock spring, if your cruse controls are steering wheel mounted.

2006 Cobalt LS Coupe Intermittent Starting Problem

sounds about right, probably is ignition switch, reason you don't get codes is because if power is'nt connecting to engine while problems occurs then ecm won't pick it up. you should have 2 ignition switches, (the lock cylinder and key switch, the other is the electrical, usually located under the dash, and commonly atttatched to the column close to the firewall, check connections first, it may just be a loose plug in connection

Cruise control on 03 buick rendezvous won't engage, no light, replaced cruise control module?

Your best bet is to check what is happening by looking at cruise control data in the PCM and BCM. You will need a high end scan tool to do this. It could be as simple as a bad switch in the steering wheel or a brake switch that is bad or out of adjustment..

2006 dodge stratus won't crank and cruise control won't light

Must not have been much of a mechanic. If the engine runs and sounds fine sometimes and other times it doesn't then it does not sound like a mechanical problem with the engine. Sounds more like a issue with either the ignition system or fuel system.

I have a 2006 volkswagen passat v6 and i'm getting a airbag fault message when i turn on the car. My horn along with my steering wheel controls for the radio and menu settings are not working. The

Nope. Sorry to tell you there is no such thing as "just a fuse". Even if there IS a blown fuse involved, I can promise you that the fuse did not CAUSE the problem. Fuses do not cause electrical circuit problems - Electricl circuit problems cause blown fuses. This may sound trivial, but unless you can understand this simple "cause and effect", you will spin your wheels for days trying to figure out any electrical problems in your vehicle. Don't feel bad, probably 95% of the motoring public does not quite understand this....you are with the MAJORITY.

With all that said, you most likely have a broken contact assembly (also sometimes called "clockspring") in your steering column. This is the part that allows the electrical connections to be made at the steering wheel while at the same time, allowing the steering wheel to be turned around in circles. (See "A" in the diagram below.)

Here's the other bad news:
On most cars, the clockspring is available as a separate piece. However, according to the information I have available, the steering column on your VolksWagen is serviced only as a COMPLETE unit. Only the steering wheel, airbag module, and ignition lock cylinder can be transfered. So, you might be in for an expensive repair.

2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS: Cruise control stopped responding. Brake lights are working. What do I do to fix the problem?

It could be something a simple as the cruise control switch(s)... or it could be the Cruise Control Module located in the engine compartment. There's also a 'clock spring' in the circuit between the steering wheel & the cruise module. Note: there are two sets of contacts in the brake lamp switch, one set for the brake lights, the other for cruise control. Properly diagnose the 'CAUSE' of the problem. Otherwise you could end up buying parts you don't need. Proper diagnosis is a 'hands-on' activity, which is nearly impossible to achieve here under the FixYa website
