Whymy car turns over but wont start. the fail safe engine mode light is on . ,is this cause my car t not start? how do u decode it off ? what part do i need because the butterfly is not opening , so

4.0 v8, i had it tested they said it was the throdle accutor i paid 600.dollars for that its not opening the butterful to get the gas. i check my fuel injector there fine itook the 600 dollar part back not refund pissed,,, but i guess i got a 600 credit not good, im at my end of my road.... i a female please give me so advice ......... god bless you mrs neals

Is it still not starting if not then you might have triggered theft detterant system which can be turned off with reprogramming of ignition module. Did you recently have any work done to ignition ignition switch or key switch there is usually a way you can bypass it

dealer only to reset the ECU ,try disconnecting the battery and joining the terminals together for 30 secs .if this doesnt work then dealer only to reset it all as car thinks its been nicked

this can be caused by a few things. Diagnostic Trouble codes needed to diagnose. many auto part store will read codes for free, please post codes

SOURCE: Cruise Not Available and Check Engine Light on

PCV hose. I had the same problem...Hear air escaping from mine..I just put some hose tape over mine, and when I got the cruise not available and check engine again, sure enough..tape was coming off...replace the hose..problem solved.

Timing out ,check it on no1 cylinder at TDC then check distributor position ,the arm is pointing at no1 plug lead

You will need to plug the car into an OBD2 scanner or a diagnostic system to get the error codes. These will help find the problem. Other than safe mode does the car drive differently? Things like running rough? Harder to start? Smokey exhaust? These are all clues to the problem. If you get the codes comment with them. I'll try to decode them for you.

What causes my 1998 Jaguar XK8 not to start when initially cranked and the Fail Safe message is displayed?

Is the check engine light displayed? If it is, that's where you start, by retrieving the fault code(s). If not, then you could have a security system fault, fuel system breakdown, etc. All codes, regardless of the systems affected, will cause the vehicle computer to immediately default to a failsafe mode, till the problem has been fixed, and this drastically affects driveability, causing no-start issues, idle problems, etc.

What is fail safe mode for transmission in 2002 dodge stratus? What could cause fail safe mode to activate with the transmission

I believe fail safe mode is usually direct drive which in most 4 speed transmissions is third gear. As far as what could cause this could be many things, electrical, clutch leakage or transmission oil bypassing the clutch that the transmission wants to engage, clutch slippage which could be the friction disks in a certain clutch that don't have any friction material left on them. IE like a brake pad the friction material on the pad once it is gone the brakes don't operate very good you have metal to metal contact you need to change your brakes. same concept. Are their any codes? Did the check engine light or transmission light come on? If you have a light try and see what the light says by scanning the computer. this should give you a good place to start.

Enigine fail safe mode

I encountered the same problem, my engine fail safe mode light came on and shut the car down. I took my car to my mechanic and he found the solution to the problem. The car needed a throttle body cleaning and the fuel filter needed to be replaced. After having my truck serviced my mileage increased from 14.6 mpg to 15.4 mpg
