92 Jaguar XJ6 stalls after breaking

My 92 Jag XJ6 vandenplas stalls after breaking at traffic lights and intersections. No problem in starting it again. Jaguar dealer diagnosed it as an electrical short and had it fixed. After a few weeks it stalled again. A friend sad it could be the idle valve.
I am not sure now who is right. Could you kindly help me on this?
Thank you.

If the lights dim upon braking and appears to just die? It could be a bad alternator, especially if the car needs to be jumped sometimes. This is due to a short in the alternator or busted diode. changing the alternator is kinda tricky to get to but very possible to do yourself for less than 100.

First and foremost I would demand the dealer to access the situation since I assume you paid them to fix the problem. This sounds like an electronic issue between the transmission and the idle switch. When you brake with an auto transmission it downshifts thus adjusting the rpms to compensate. If this is malfunctioning it could very well stall it..

My jag wont start

It could be an ignition related issue or fuel.
When it doesn't start does it crank, do you have the ignition lights?
The most common problem of intermittant no star probems is the crank sensor on the front of the engine, they can break down over a period of time and fail when warm. if not then I would fit a fuel pressure guage to the car and run it. Then see what the reading is when warm. If it is nothing (should be 38-40) then I would replace the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pumps typically don't fail intermittantly, they just fail!

95 jaguar xj6 cuts out

sounds like valves not seating, this model car suffers from burnt valves as the engine was designed pre war when they had high octane fuel and lots of lead in the fuel ,lead lubricates the exhaust valves as well as causing all other health problems.but iam sure that these engines never got a stelite coated valves and valve seats when in 92 we all went unleaded.i have reground no end of heads since word got around that i could do a jag.i can get the head off in about an hour ,they are quite simple really just dammed heavy and the head gaskets expensive about 100€ another 3/4 hours to grind valves in then refit.valve timing marks on rear of cams by the way .
