If you can lower the back seat, you should be able to get your hand in far enough to get at the latch. you'll need a flashlight. some cars have a pull cable in the trunk also which would be even easier. good luck

you can try laying down under it and try to get your hand up to where the latch is and pull it open with a pair of pliars.

I have a 2006 Lexus LS 430 and cannot open the trunk

A trunk lid is secured into position using a latch and striker similar to those used for the hood and doors. The striker is a U-shaped piece of metal fixed to the trunk lid. The latch is a mechanism that hooks around striker and holds it tightly until the latch release lever is pulled. Latch release levers can be actuated electronically via a solenoid and switch or mechanically via a cable and handle. The most common failure item with electronic systems is the solenoid actuator which is typically integrated into the latch itself. For manual release systems the most common failure items is the cable which tends to snap internally, especially if there is a problem with the latch such as binding. Accessing the trunk area to replace the necessary parts can be tricky if the trunk won't open; in these cases I'd recommend trying to open the trunk with the key (if it has a lock cylinder) otherwise the back seats will need to be laid down or removed in order to get to gain access. 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. How to open the trunk without a key?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Television and Video category.

Normally you remove the back seat back, and pull the emergency release. Or a mobile locksmith can get in. If the lock is worn, any similar shape key may work with some jiggling. Also look in the glove box for a release button.

I just found this in your Owner Manual for Cutlass Supreme

Remote Trunk Release (OPTION) Press the yellow trunk release button located under the instrument panel on the driver's side. Your automatic transaxle must be in P (Park). Remember that your trunk can be opened at any time using the lock release. Be sure to lock your doors

and also access into the back.

Trunk Access Panel If you have split rear seats, you may have a trunk access panel for storing long objects like skis. Pull your rear armrest down using the strap. Then pull the latch on the trunk access panel towards you to open the panel. To close the access panel lift the latch.

The trunk release lever will not open the trunk. the trunk will open when the key is used but not by the release lever.

So, when somebody else pull the cable, do you see the latch move back and forward from the trunk? There is nothing complicated about a manual cable, it just pull the cable and there should be a reaction to it. If there is no action from the latch, no movement at all, then the cable is just broken. If there is a little movement, not enough to pull the latch to open the trunk, you still need to replace the cable.

My trunk is stuck shut, how can i get it open? they key will not turn and the latch thing by the front near the gas release will not work either...

If you have rear seats that fold down you can access the latch mechanism from the left side rear seat....if you are flexible. pull the corner of the seat forward to allow your arm to slide in behind. about 14-16" in, feeling up inside the trunk you can feel 3 quarter size holes in the sheet metal. The second hole has the cable release arm. stick your finger up there are pull towards you. this will release the seat allowing it to fold down. Crawl into the trunk. there is a glow in the dark release handle on the inside of the trunk lid to open the trunk.

I accidentally pulled the interior trunk release of 2008 volkswag

Try a screw driver, and release the trunk release at the same time and unsnap the latch, the latch thinks it is closed, because the latch never opened back up to allow the striker to go in it and trigger the latch to close, the latch is in closed mode, you will have to manually unlatch the latch sort of speak.

Trunk Problem

Has the key been giving you trouble opening the trunk before, or was this something that suddenly stopped working? Same question concerning the trunk release. If this has been going on for a while (getting worse gradually), try spraying something like wd-40 in the lock, then try the key. The trunk release cable stretches out w/ age and will stop working. If you can get vice grips to grab firmly on the cable, not the release knob, you can pull it out farther than just pulling the knob/lever, it should open. If this doesn't work you can remove the back seat, look to see if something was closed in the latch (a shirt, coat, etc, that might jam the latch)countrycurt0
