Engine starts normal but dies out. The way to keep it going is to keep my foot on the acellerator and evintually it will stay runnig. after about 5 minutes the engine will die as if out of gas,but will start easily again.
I get 2 codes,p1132, and p1152 described as ( manufacturer control,air fuel metering) my service manual does not show these codes.I don't know what to look for.Can anybody help?
Try looking at the idle/air control valve - Look around where the gas cables attach to the engine. remove the wires and then unbolt the unit from the engine. The control valve has a spring valve that you can clean with intake cleaner. re-install the valve and drive to warm up the vehicle. After 20 minutes the vehicle should Idle. If not clear all codes and relist them here - hope tthis helps
First Code 1132 and 1152 are O@ codes showing that the vehicle is flooding
P1121 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage
If your scanner can show live data - view the TPS volt or TPS % reading with the engine off. the voltage reading should go from 0-1 as you press the gas to the floor.
Check for any air leaks from the Mass Air Flow Sensor to the TPS Sensor and any other air leaks
I would check the TPS wiring and possible change TPS sensor
Note that Mass air flow sensors could also cause the problem and are $$$ to change. So I would change the TPS (20-25 bucks) first

Thank you for your sugestion.I did as you adviced and had no change in the symptoms,"BUT' the engine diagnostic codes did change. I now have code p1121.I also checked the specs for the IAC valve and it all checks out.( internally the valve was not sludged up very much

I went ahead and replaced the TPS and still got the P1121 code
back.So then I got the Mass Air Sensor and that took care of the problem completely.
apparantly this sensor must have been going bad because I use to have an intemitten problem of engine hesitating while cruising every so often and then it would go away.
the engine now rus strong and is responsive on acceleration thanks again for your very good advice.
my 2000 windstar idles 1800 then slowly idles down after 2 min. Then it misfires at idle and cruising.
My 2000 Windstar also starts, but then dies and cokes when cold, and only runs good when running hot after 15 minutes.
