Headlight problems I changed my headlights after they started turning pink. It worked for a moment and now it does not work at all. Even the fog lights went. I have no working lights on my passenger side. The front only the back lights work just fine.

The only main thing these two share in common is the ground. Check your ground wire for corrosion or to see if it is loose Are noticing that the power locks are sometimes not working. I've been looking through wiring diagrams and thats the main thing i see.

Other than that the headlight switch would be my next conern but you say the driver side fog light is working properly

Make sure the connectors are plugged in good and solid. try wiggling them and see if lights come on. may just be a loose wire. good luck

there should be a relay fuse under the hood in the engine compartment. it might need to be replaced.

To activate fog lamps 2006 altma do you need to change headlamp turn switch

Yes, the 2006 has the fog light switch on the headlight switch which is also the turn signal switch, another way is to install a fog light switch, this will not be as the factory setup which works off the headlight switch but will save some money.

Both headlamps not working, they both came on momentarily then ceased working, I have checked both the 15 amp fuses in the engine compartment fuse box and both seem okay - any suggestions

I would check the headlight switch. It could be that you are able to turn the running lights on but the headlight position is not working. Using a test light check for power at both sides of the fuse. When using a test light do not just check all fuses as you do not want to use a test light on the air bag fuse(s). If there is no power on both sides of the fuse (and you already check that the fuse is good) then there is a problem somewhere in the electrical. If there is power at both sides, then the next area to check would be the headlight switch. If the vehicle has fog lamps, turn them on then turn the headlights on. The fog lights should come on. If not then you can almost guarantee it's in the switch as it controls both the fog lights and headlights. Pull back on your turn signal switch (or push it forward) to see if the high beems come on. If they do not but the fog lights go out, then it's highly probable that the headlight switch is bad.

Headlight headache

Soounds like you have a wire problem. Look under your dash at the headlight switch and the connector for any melting....repair as necessary. Look also around the headlight wiring....sounds like you have a wire that is shorting out.

What started this mess? tailights, fog lights, brake lights....

The relay has nothing to do with the tail lights, but replacing the switch sounds like a good idea. There's a nut holding it in place, see http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/electrics/switches/switch-headlight/1027524/ to get an idea of the construction. And the price. This is not worth fiddling about unreliable workarounds...
In addition, if fuses 15 and/or 16 burn frequently there might be a problem with the tail light cabling.

Good luck

Niether driver or passenger headlights will pop up or turn on

It could be the motors that raise up the headlights are dead. Try replacing those and check the connectors to the motors for any damage. Also use a volt meter to see if the motor is getting any power and work from there. I know when mine was starting to go out it made a terrible noise when the headlight came down and then I could not just turn on my fog lights without the headlight coming up on the light with the motor that was going out. Hope this helps you out.

2003 sunfire wiring

I had that problem, and I thought it was the ground as well, but it turns out the splice in the wire harness sits at the absolute lowest level the bundle could, and it collects water. I opened mine up, and it was completely corroded. It appears there was a recall on this, but if you got yours used, as I did, you wouldn't have been notified.
I fixed that, but my fog lights are out now.
