Then you probably have a sticking trunk latch, a weak/partially shorted trunk latch actuator, or high resistance in the trunk latch actuator circuit.

2012 dodge avenger. The key fob or button on dash won't open trunk. I don't hear a sound when i push button on dash, but when i use the key fob, it clicks and lights still flash.

First thing is to get the trunk open

(Try to push down the trunk lid before pressing the fob)
ok, let's assume you got it open. Closely inspect the bundle of wires that go into the trunk lid. You will find a small section that will flex when the lid goes from closed to full open. That's the spot to look VERY closely at the flex point. You may find a wire that looses contact due to mechanical agitation while previous openings and closings of the trunk ( a million times).
Fix the wire and spray the trunk latch first with penetrating lube then with pure lube. WITH THE LID STILL OPEN check the remote and the dash button and ensure rhe actions actuate the trunk lid solenoid at the latch.

Why is the trunk popping open with a clicking sound mercury sable problems

I would get the remote checked at a parts store like Autozone. Could be trunk release button is stuck. Also try disconnecting the battery(neg terminal) and then see if trunk locks. The locks are made to work mechanically without electric. This way you would know if it is an electric problem or broken lock.

Chrysler pacifica trunk

You need to replace that latch, I think the return spring must be broken.

Trunk will not release with key remote but i hear click noise from fuse block on passenger side dash i have no manual so i dont know what fuse operates what also never have found any other trunck release...

If the actuator mechanism is functioning (you hear the click) the next step is to see if the cable is connected to the latch. Open your trunk and press the button - watch what happens. You may have to manually 'lock' the trunk with the trunk lid open to observe the action. You can always unlock this latch with your key if necessary.

Let me know what happens ... good luck

New batteries but remote won't click the door(s) or trunk. Ron

try programming the remote again, here is how u do that. if this doesn't fix the problem the remote may be defective, if you need a new one try ebay, they are very cheap to buy there.

.

Note: Existing keyless remotes will be erased with this procedure.
Existing working remotes will have to reprogrammed also.
1. Locate the programming connector wire located in the RH trunk area.
You may have to pull back right side trunk trim on trunk wall to locate
the single black/white wire.

2. The programming connector wire should have one termial in the plastic
connector on end of black/white wire. Ground the terminal in the connector
to a nearby bolt or trunk latch.
Leave connector wire connected to ground through out procedure.
3. System will now lock and unlock doors automatically to indicate
programming mode has been activated.
4. Press any button on keyless remote. System will respond by locking
and unlocking doors one time to indicate successful programming.
5. Repeat step 4 for to program any additonal keyless remotes including
and existing keyless remotes. Do not remove ground wire between
programming of keyless remotes.
6. Disconnect programming connector wire from ground to exit programming
mode.
7. Test keyless remote(s).

Trunk / rear lid won't open

You can try this I think the latch is just slightly missaligned.Did you put something in the trunk and push down on the trunk?Try to push down hard on the trunk where the latch is a few times while pressing the remote. If this works and it opens look for marks on the latch indicating rubing, file down, spray with WD 40.Good Luck.

Trunk Release Button Won't Work

Any autoelectrical shop would be able to sort it. Make sure you check all of your fuses in the fuse panel. It may be that a relay is switching but the main source power isn't there.

Sounds like the trunk latch actuator is out.
