You need to have you idle relearned. Here is the procedure.

Relearn procedure

"Make sure that all accessories are turned off, a.c. radio, lights etc.."

That is very important as the bcm will learn the wrong idle speed and you will find yourself in the same position.

1. Unhook the battery for a few minutes and then hook back up
2. From a cold start. Turn the ignition to the acc position for 20 seconds and then turn back off.
3.start the engine with no accessories on and let the engine idle from cold to normal temp for 15 minutes.
4. Shut the engine off.
5. Turn the ignition to the acc position and then back off.
6. Start the engine and let it idle in park for 3 minutes.
7. While engine is still running hold in brake and put it in drive. With brakes pressed it the engine idle in drive for 3 minutes.
8. Put the car back in park and shut off for 20 seconds.
9. Start the engine.
10. That should do it.

Trying disconnecting the battery again this time for 10 to 15 minutes. Then reconnect and see if it clears the problem.

2007 Nissan Sentra 2.0 Sluggish accleration with erratic rpm between .5 and 2

Sorry, but this is too much random information. What EXACTLY is the vehicle doing?
When you first start the vehicle what does it do? Easy start and even idle? Easy start and rough idle? Hard start and even idle? Hard start and rough idle?
As you hit the gas does it pause then give power? Stutter as it gives power or give power then die?
Too much information can confuse the fix.

2004 chevy malibu high rpms and revving all by itself

Have the engine checked for vacuum leaks, that will cause a high idle speed. As a 35 year veteran of auto repair I can tell you that engine flushs are a 100% waste of your hard earned money.

It's not a gas pedal, it's an air pedal. Fuel injected engines are all about air flow at idle. take off the intake snorkel and check out your throttle body. You may just need a new throttle position sensor, or the Idle solenoid that regulates idle air flow is stuck. The computer will try to compensate, but it can only do so much.

Sounds like your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve may not be functioning properly, although not at all related to a battery change.

Are you getting a check engine light? If yes, then take it to any auto-parts store for a free scan to determine any fault.

The engine has recently started to idle very fast when the car is in park, and tapping the gas pedal doesn't help.

Examine all the vacuum hoses as one most likely has cracked, usually at a bend or
has come completely off. This will cause very high idle.Hope this helps.
