The first thing that must be done here is to have the computer tested for fault codes with a scanner.

After hot engine wont start and smells like gas

Most likely causes are bad engine coolant temp sensor OR leaking fuel injectors. Bad engine coolant temp sensor will give computer false reading and computer provides wrong air fuel mixture. Leaking fuel injectors will load the engine with raw gas--just like flooding it. Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and holding it there when cranking when hot. That forces the computer into "clear flood" mode and it shuts off the injectors. If it starts up with pedal down, that would be a sign of leaking injectors.

check for loose connections/fuse at the key/ ignition switch. Check for loose connection where the ignition gets the power (starter motor terminal)

95 Dodge intrepid wants to turn over but wont. power to car is fine.

There is a number of things that this could be, bad rotor in the distributor, loose wire in distributor, coil is going bad, timing is off, coil wire is working right, out of gas, bad fuel pump. all i can say is have fun. start with the cheapest and easiest to fix and go from there.

Engine turns over but dose not fire, several times while driving it would loose power then pick-up again. It died while driving and wont restart.

The first thing i would look at would be the fuel pump, i would check to see if the engine is getting fuel. anther problem that would not be related to your loosing power is the timing belt may have let go this is very common for this type of car that dies while driving, start with these checks first. hope this helps.

well you narrowed it down to a fuel problem. not sure about your model, but most cars have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail to reduce un needed pressures. that could possibly be bad. its cylinder in shape and has a vacuum hose connected to it. check the hose and that unit.

Car wont always start right away. sometimes it clicks when you turn the key. sometimes it starts right up.

There are generally three possible causes:

1) Loose/corroded connections: check and clean connections and in particular the main earth lead from the car battery to the car body and the connections to the starter motor.. A bad connection will not provide the large current required by the starter motor.

2) Weak battery: if the battery is a few years old, then it may not be able to provide the large current to drive the starter motor. Get the battery tested (usually for free).

3) Faulty or worn Starter motors which gets stuck.

Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

did it stay running when connected to the car giving the boost? if so then the alternator is not charging the electrical system, get it serviced or replaced.
