Wheel bearing needs changing
you will find that the bearing race is worn in the track, either the bearing didnt have enough case hardening when new or the grease has gone dry,but it will not move when pushed or pulled but it whines when driven which is a classic sypmton, never seen one of these cars but if its front wheel drive then it could be the differential caused by a rubber boot on gearbox thats perished and leaking oil causing gearbox to run dry.
sorry if i wasnt able to put a finger directly on the problem but iam in spain and i have never seen a cobalt,i can only make an educated guess from the the symptons described which can be more than one thing throwing the spanner in the works so to speak.

While it was helpful to hear a suggestion. I didn't have any play in the wheel itself when lifted off the ground. The test of grabbing the tire from top and bottom and checkin for play for wheel bearings and grabbing both sides to check for play for the tie rod. Currently the car is at the dealer and we're gonna see how it turns out. But if I can I'll post up the results.
To address the issue the dealer changed the hub bearing, and the issue stopped as far as the loud problematic noise and ran smoother.
oh no. I really appreciated the assistance. Thank you.
I have a front drive vibratiion noise that increases with speed, increases with left turns only and maximum noise level at 80-90km/hour. When i got the van i replaced both wheel bearings, calipers, brakes, tie rods, tires. The noise still continued. Is this noise the triple needle bearing steering drive system on both sides of the transmission? Thanks. Merry Christmas
