You probably have a bad blower resistor. it's located next to the blower motor under the dash.

Why wont my ac or heater come on in my 2003 chevy impala, but the defroster it work on defrost only when i turn it to the heat position, but not on ac mode.

Check the actuator motor on the heater. It moves the arms that directs the doors to switch from heat to ac. and to defrosters.

The defrost, heater and Ac all went out on my 1993 maxima.

If the blower worked, but couldn't get cold air, there may be a leak of refrigerant in the A/C system. If you're complaint is about the lack fan-forced air; that could be a problem with the fan speed switch or a bunch of other places. Most often however, it is the speed control resistor. Have a look at this thread to learn more about it:

1999 durango vent control switch will not let AC blow threw vents only defrost

Usually this is a problem with the blend doors under the dash. You either have a vac leak, a dead motor, or a faulty door.
The control opens and closes the doors to direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with directing air thru the vents.
When a problem occurs, the default position is the defrost vents to make sure the windshield remains clear.
You can do an internet search for "repair durango blend door" for more info.

Heater and AC and blower all work fine but it all blows out of defroster vents thats about it , when AC is on it comes out defroster vents,no matter your selection. Heater is the same way.

The HVAC mode selections on these are controlled by an electric stepper motor that receives commands from the BCM (body control module). The BCM decides where the air door should be by looking at where the dash control input is.
Each mode selected has a different resistance level. From low resistance to high resistance: Panel, Bi-Level, Floor, Mix and Defrost, with Defrost as the highest resistance (~100K ohms). A high resistance or open circuit would probably default the system to defrost no matter what position the mode control was set to.
If the control is dirty or there is a connection issue, this could cause this problem. Does playing with the control make any difference?
The BCM can store fault codes with HVAC releated information. The system can be reset and recalibrated with a battery disconnect, this will also erase any fault codes.
I would start by looking at the dash mode control.

Good luck, i hope this helps.

1997 explorer max ac switches between front and defroster vents

Check the vacuum hose going to the heater control valve,it may have popped off. If that is on. check the vacuum hose going to your recirculation door under the right side of your dash. I hope this helps.

The heater/defroster/ac switch

Sounds like a card located under dash behind your blower motor, on passenger side. When card starts going bad you will only have off and high (for awhile), then none. change the card, this thing controls your speeds on the motor at your control on dash. I have a 2002 Dakota had same problem... but keep in mind not all Dakotas have this card.
