Headlights are not bright enough...

Hi guys, after I crash my 98 XJ, I had to make a total reconstruction on the front end, I put a new pair of head lights (stock lights) but they're not bright as they where, before the crash, I'm thinking maybe is an issue with the amount of amps going to it, can you please give me some tips on how to fix this issue??? Thanks in advance

Often aftermarket parts are not the same quality as stock or could have a half broken wire or bad connection.

Make sure you have a good ground. There are ground straps from engine to frame and frame to body. Make sure they are all hooked up and clean.

Well if all those years your car was working perfectly fine with that blue fuse just get a new 1 and replace it. But then if the lights still don't work check all the wiring in the car that goes to the lights and if there is no problem go to a mechanic and ask him to look at it. That's all i can really help you with i'm sorry i'm not a mechanic yet or i would help you further.

SOURCE: 98 jeep tj, dash light/taillights/licence plate light don't work

disconnect head lights, and replace fuse. Then turn the light back on to see if it blow a fuse again. if not, plug on light in at a time. You might have a bad headlight???? then unplug that one if nothing happens. Then plug the other one in. It could also be a bad taillight bulb. I have had bad tail light bulbs. Do all of them, one at a time.

Needs someone to check for play in the items you have mentioned (though probably not the u-joints), plus the swaybar links, and shock absorbers. If you can get the vehicle jacked off the ground (with safety stands under it) you should be able to check most of these items with a suitable lever bar. Wobble the steering wheel side to side to check the tie rod ends, with the vehicle on the ground and one hand on the tie rod to feel for the clunking.

My front turn signals dont work, the bulbs have been replaced. I also replaced the multifunction switch.

Often times the headlights, brights and turn signals are on different fuses. I used to have a 98 and I was surprised at how many things were connected to each other in the fuse box. If you can not find a fuse related to the brights, then get a fuse tester and walk through all the fuse. If not, it is not a total loss, any car audio place installs alarms can trouble shoot it, if they want the money, rewire or fix it. They are usually cheaper then an autoshop.

Where are the airbag sensors on a 2002 Malibu? Daughter ran off road, hit ditch & did damage to right front from headlight down....both airbags deployed...is that normal?

Hi, the impact sensors for the air bags are usually located between the headlights more or less at the lowest point of the headlights. It is possible that the air bags will deploy as the impact sensors work with vibration. If the vibration is big enough to activate the sensor the air bags will deploy.

The passenger headlight on my 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse is very dim. I have replaced the bulbs; however, it is still very dim. I am told that I have a loose ground wire. How do I determine which is the ground...

Behind the headlights there is a plug that has 3 wires to the dip beam and 2 wires to main beam and the black wire is the earth so use a test light and put 1 end of test light to earth the other to either wire and turn on head lights it should light up if not then test the other wire if it lights then the other wire you tested was the one that isent any good .. so what you do is either clean contacts on the back of the globe plug or just put a wire from that wire on plug to any earth on the body or engine bolt and the light will come bright and make sure its fitted good and your job is done,, you now have goodlights.

Headlights aren't bright enough at night

Don't change to HID Xenon or Bi-Xenon unless you change the entire headlight unit, as your standard headlamp units are not designed for this. You will only end up blinding oncoming traffic, and your beam scatter will be all over the place.

Take your car to a servicing garage or dealer and ask them to check the headlight alignment. If you are still unhappy with the headlight performance, there are plenty of quality halogen bulbs out there - just look at the Philips or Osram automotive range.

When i put my brights on my headlights go out

Replace your headlights. Your brights are no longer working. There are 2 sets of lights in each headlight. One set for your dims and one set for your brights. It is time to replace the lights.

1999 Mazda Miata Headlight Failure

Notice how your headlights are protected under the hood by a suspiciously large rubber cover? Miatas hate humidity and condensation, from head to toe, including the headlights. I lost a headlight, was pulled over by a state trooper who told me to change it, and tested the brights all in one night. Of course, the brights worked, because they are actuated from a different circuit on the wiring harness that connects to the headlight through that massive rubber seal. If any amount of humidity or condensation has occurred, especially during a weather change, I cannot stress that enough, the first thing to fail is the normal headlight setting. I was already going to switch over to high-intensity bulbs, so I had a good excuse to crack open the headlight assembly (otherwise I wouldn't dare--Miata headlights are nearly impossible to change with a large pair of hands). I separated the old bulbs from their wires and proceeded to clean the connectors of the wires with an approved electrical connection cleaning solution (go to AutoZone). I then applied the conducting gel to the bulb to avoid corrosion and secure against future problems with condensation and was good to go. Make sure to give yourself many many hours to decipher the bulb assembly, as it was designed by someone whose sole intent is to make the job 150 times more difficult. Otherwise, cleaning the wiring assembly is a cinch.
