Tps, engine slam

I got a generic TPS (p0122) and generic TPS (p0452) diagnostics result from a check-engine light. My Trac Off light is also on. What else can be the issue? When I am driving sometimes it slams in to gear or when I put it in drive? I replaced the TPS (p0122) and have learned there are two under the hood, perhaps I replaced the wrong one? Anything helps, thanks.

    I recently have replaced the motor mounts on my car, which is why I have brought up the issue of the engine "slamming" into gear. When a vehicle shifts gears the engine slightly "rocks" as it changes gears and since this check-engine light has come on it has been "slamming". I can only see that the two are connected. My question is knowing that there is not a transmission issue should I replace both TPS sensors? or even have the voltage tested for both? can the TPS be tested not connected? Again anything helps, thanks.

That's not the symptom of a bad TPS. Bad TPS causes hesitation in the same spot as you accelerate. Slamming into gear is a pressure issue and the GM uses input from the MAF sensor to determine transmission pressure. I'd start by cleaning the MAF sensor or testing it to see what it's reading.

SOURCE: vehical stuck in limp mode

This only applies if you have an allison transmission, which based on the problem you are reporting I would guess that you do.

It sounds like your vehicle is stuck in limp mode. This is probably due to a bad NSBU switch(Neutral, saftey, back up) (if you have an allison transmission. Prior to 2002 the NSBU switches had a very poor seal which resulted in water intrusion into the NSBU switch causing corrosion. If the switch is corroded it is likley confusing your transmission. Unfortunatly you cannot repair the bad switch, it needs to be replaced. If you order one through Chevy it will cost around 200 dollars. I found one at merchant Automotive for 91 dollars. ( http://www.merchant-automotive.com/allisonnsbuswitch2001-2004.aspx ).

The switch is relativly easy to replace. the electrical connections are the hardest part as they are glued into the switch. A little heat from a butane torch should soften it up and make the connectors slide off more easily. Other wise you may have to break the NSBU switch appart to remove the connectors.

I replaced the switch for the first time and it took me 15 minutes.

SOURCE: transmission slams into gears

you cant it a self seal transmission supposedly design to be maintenance free up to 100k miles which GM claims. my opinion is the worst transmission GM ever came out with. they should recall every single one of those car replacing all car with new transmission. If you leak and loose all the fluid you in deep trouble, I recommend take it to the dealership and have it look at. Supposing ly you have to brake tran-ny loose to fill the fluid. I hate to say be careful driving that car without or little of tran-ny fluid, you will burn your tran-ny very quick and the car will be no good. I hope that help

SOURCE: 2006 Chevrolet impala lean code issue

Unplug the sensor harness and re-connect a and c terminals using jumper wires. You should see about 4.5volts or a bit more from the center terminal (meter(+) to terminal, other lead to good ground. Do this with key on, engine off.. With engine running, (same hookup) You should see a different and varying reading that changes with rpm. Before testing check the vacuum hose going to the sensor to make sure it's intact and has vacuum or test will be invalid. Test procedure I outlined is the last one I remember. Possible GM changed procedure, so best to check a manual if readings are different than what I stated. There are other items that can change mixture but I have seen this a few times. Otherwise, you will need to go through system item by item before finding anything.

1998 chrysler concorde code P1684 P0122

P01684 just says that the battery has been disconnected within the past 50 starts. If you have already replaced the TPS and still get the P0122 code, it could be a short in the wiring or a problem with your Powertrain Control Module. Other names for the PCM is ECM and ECU. Changed the TPS on my 05 sedona and it reads P0122 code on scanner, after clearing the codes the check engine light wont turn off and the codes still reads P0122, maybe a bad TPS ?

this code may cause by:

TPS not mounted securely.

TPS circuit short to ground or another wire.

Faulty TPS.

Damaged computer (PCM).

to fix this code you can try this:

Carefully check the throttle position sensor (TPS), wiring connector, and wiring for breaks, etc. Repair or replace as necessary
Check the voltage at the TPS (refer to a service manual for your vehicle for specific information). If the voltage is too low that is indicative of a problem. Replace if necessary.
If recently replaced the TPS may need to be adjusted. On some vehicles the installation instructions call for the TPS to be properly aligned or adjusted, consult a repair manual for specifics.
If there are no symptoms at all, the problem may be intermittent and clearing the code may resolve the issue temporarily. If this is the case then you should definitely check the wiring to be sure it's not rubbing on anything, grounding, etc. The code may come back.

2004 - JEEP LIBERTY SPORT 3.7/V6 ENGINE LIGHT ON !!! CODE #(P0122) What is it ? Can I fix it ? Dealership fix only ?

P0122 Code - Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input

A P0122 code means that the the car's computer has detected that the TPS (throttle position sensor) is reporting too low a voltage. On some vehicles that lower limit is 0.17 - 0.20 volts (V).

Did you adjust it when you installed it? If the signal value is less than .17V then the PCM sets this code. Could be an open or a short to ground in the signal circuit. Or you may have lost the 5Volt reference voltage.

Symptoms may include:
* Rough or low idle
* Stalling
* Surging
* No/little acceleration
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0122 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* TPS not mounted securely
* TPS circuit short to ground or another wire
* Faulty TPS
* Damaged computer (PCM)

Possible Solutions: Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are:
* Carefully check the throttle position sensor (TPS), wiring connector, and wiring for breaks, etc. Repair or replace as necessary
* Check the voltage at the TPS (refer to a service manual for your vehicle for specific information). If the voltage is too low that is indicative of a problem. Replace if necessary.

What is Codes PO122 & PO303?

P0122 = TPS (throttle position sensor) voltage reports too low. This means that you could have a problem with the TPS, the wires to the TPS or the computer, if you have not replaced the TPS or do not want to do this work, I would take it in to a shop for this to be done. The TPS may require adjusting after replacement.
P0303= Cylinder Number 3 Missfire Detected, this means that the number 3 cylinder has miss fired, probably set this code as a result of the P0122 code. I would repair code P0122 and clear both codes. Hope this helps, let me know.

Check engine light came on trouble shooting code is P 0122

Code P0122 is a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) sensor out of range.

The operating range of the TPS is about .5 to 4.8 volts. .5 at idle 2.5 at half throttle and 4.8 at full throttle.

This can be checked easily with a scanner. But can be checked with a multi-meter.
