SOURCE: 1998 aurora

I have had this problem with my 98 aurora and have replaced all the same components. Temp gauge routinely shows 200 on highway (Fine) but in the city in stop and go will get to around 245. I installed a switch to manually turn on the cooling fans by connecting the ground to pin 86 in the relay for the fan(s). Otherwise the fans will not turn on to 245. This fix works but would like to know an actual solution.

does the fan come on when supposed to? you could hook your fans to a toggle switch and run them manually from start to finish this may help. also did you bleed the system after replacing these parts and purge all air from cooling system? is the coolant coming out of the resovoir hose?

waterpump houseing/shaft seal is on the way out hence the water/coolant, running along the block. when hot the seal does so, when cold and depressurising seal doesnt.

I have a 2001 mercury grand marquis ls. it overheats when im driving it but don't shows it on the temperature hand ..what is the problem ??

The temperature switch on the side of the upper radiator hose is not working. That is, if the engine is hot. Boiling over - need to check thermostat. Grab on to upper hose (should be hot) than with engine off, grab bottom radiator hose. It also should be same temperature as top. If so, thermostat ok. Electric radiator fan - turn Ac on. Fans should run. No, check fuses & relay. Mechanical fan - with engine off, the blade should be stiff to turn. Easy, replace fan clutch. Usually, low level of water is most common. Wish you well.

I have a 91 Nissan pickup d21 2.4 liter engine 2 wheel drive I have replace water pump thermostat radiator radiator hoses have bled the lines and it still runs hot water boiling in overflow.while truck is...

If you have a viscous fan hub then have it replaced as it is not moving the air through the radiator. Check how you placed the thermostat in the system as the bulb bit faces into the head or block so that it can sense the rising water temperature and open as required.. With not water moving through the hose I suspect that may be your problem

Engine overheat and no heat

Maybe your radiator is clogged.

My car is getting hot in idle, what is wrong?

Check first your coolant level. Start engine and turn on ac open hood see if cooling fans are running, if fans are running and coolant level is ok temperature should stay normal. If temperature rises squeeze coolant hose, it should be firm like you could feel pressure on the hose a sign that the water pump is good. Thermostat opens only when coolant reach normal operating temperature.

Car is over heating changed thermostat water pump isnt leaking or making any noises

Ok well there are a number of possibilities. One to keep in mind is that some water pumps are really cheap and the fins will corrode and rust off leaving nothing behind to actually pump the water. If the pump really is working fine then there are two more possibilities. 1 the radiator is clogged, 2. there may be a head gasket leak. 3. you are sure your gauge is working right? 4. you didnt say what year or kind of car it is.. Is the electric fan working? When the engine is overheating, are both upper and lower radiator hoses hot? If the water pump or the thermostat are failing the upper radiator hose can be hot while the lower can still be relativly cool. If the radiator is plugged or the fan isnt working then both hoses can be Hot. There is also a remote possibility that water passages in the head gasket could be plugged.

1999 Alero: I replace the head gaskets thermostat water pump n...

OK you have done the engine side of things. If you have an electric radiator cooling fan make sure it comes on when radiator is hot, if not the fan motor is caned or the thermostat switch is faulty. Sometimes the fan motor is supplied by a fused/relayed circuit in which case these items will also need to be checked. Check that not only does the top hose from the engine to radiator get hot but that the bottom one does too. If not this would indicate a blockage perhaps in the radiator core due to sludge. If full of sludge give both ends a flush out with a high pressure hose. Like wise do the same with the bottom hose back to the pump. If the water is circulating and the radiator fan is working then the normal cooling system is working as it should. f the engine is running hot one last thing is to find the EGR valve and check that it is opening as it should. If not the combustion temperatures go very high. One indicator of a hot engine is blue/glazed spark plugs so take one out and check it for signs of hot running. If hot then look to clean the EGR valve and associated exhaust gas feeder pipe with frayed cable, cloth and and carb cleaner spray.

1995 Chrysler Cirrus overheating

Probably not water pump. Engine is notourious for vapour lock.
Cooling system must be blead of air before thermostat will work. Cool bottom rad hose is a dead give away. If you are still watching this forum reply , and I will walk you through the only way I know how to make it work properly. It's actually easy if you do it my way. I have worked on lots of cars , and this engine was the hardest to bleed out. Did one Yesterday , and works perfect.
