I would check the the oil pressure sensor is not foul up this can happen sometimes, as there is vain in the sensor. this reads the pressure. and tell the ecu. and your display.

SOURCE: sudden change in oil pressure gauge

It is normal on a Chevy for the oil pressure guage to fluctuate based on the rpm's of the engine. The faster the engine is turning, the higher the pressure. If it is fluctuating without a change of engine speed, then you may have a REAL Big problem such as low or no oil in engine or the oil pump itself is going bad. Could also be a blocked oil filter. You surely change your oil regularly....right?

SOURCE: My oil pressure gage just drops to 0!!!

You need to replace the oil pressure sending unit, this is what tells your gauge what the pressure is. For future information if your oil pressure drops again and its a real failed oil pump within a few minutes you will internally damage the engine. I would get a new Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Let me know if you have any questions.... Thanks!

SOURCE: low oil pressure 93 GMC P/U w/350 motor w/205,000 miles gauge

While engine is running, open the cover where you add oil to engine and see if you see a good flow of oil, if good flow, could be as easy as replacing oil sending sensor. got to realize that if poor maintenance history your engine may not be building enough pressure at iddle to move your hydraulic operated valves, only when you rev it up it will pump enough to run smooth. if running engine too long, you may cause more damage to other engine components such as crankshaft and cam shaft bearings. if you can spare a few bucks, have a good mechanic check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. another cheap option is to replace oil pump. last resort if you love your truck as much as we do,replace engine or rebuild it. At 205,000 this is a normal symptom, other than timing chain problems, most engines don't make it that far. hope this helps!

How to replace an oil pump on a 2005 Gmc Envoy XUV 4-wheel drive

Are you wanting to change the oil pump because the oil pressure flickers while idling after the engine has warmed up? If so change your oil pressure switch (located next to oil filter) first, to see if that fixes your problem. Sometimes dirty oil gets trapped in the switch and breaks down when the engine is warm. Replacing the oil pump is a major project requiring dropping the oil pan. Check U-Tube or a Haynes Repair Manual.

When im driving or giving car gas oil pressure is good, if car stops moving and gets no gas oil pressure drops to zero? I drive a 2007 gmc envoy 4.2 liter. Any ideas everyone says just a bad motor.

Are you hearing a knocking coming from the engine if so yeah there may be a rod getting ready to go soon which would be an engine replacement. Have you checked the oil levels? It could also be an oil pump or oil pressure sensor. There are many things to consider and many things it could be.

I have a 01 gmc yukon denali. It has had a small oil leak and I have been adding oil as needed. I just added some oil, drove 5 blocks and lost all oil pressure. By the time i got home there is a loud...

Did you suddenly loose all oil as well? Once you loose all oil pressure you must shut engine off IMMEDIATLY to prevent major engine damage.. How low is oil now? If very low and you really lost all pressure, engine may be junk.

WAS TRAVELING IN MY GMC 2006 SIERRA TRUCK WHEN MY OIL PRESSURE DROPPED TO 0 IS THIS A PROBLEM ?

surely it is a problem and major one. DO NOT run the engine at all. You have to carry some checks to confirm whether your gauge is not lying. Check whether you have the correct oil level fist. Check whether your oil filter is a good and non burst . Check by means of oil pressure tester the pressure of your oil, Check whether the oil switch is accurate or is not working. Check the wiring on the oil switch, finally if neither of the above have problem, check the oil pressure pump in the engine is not the culprit. Good luck.

What will cause a truck to lose all oil pressure and the engine to shut off while driving down the road?

If wires came off oil pressure switch or if switch went bad, it would shut down truck immediately. Your oil pressure switch performs 2 functions; oil pressure to gauge.light and it's also a safety feature that if you're in an accident or rollover, when oil pressure drops it shuts off power to fuel pump. I'd start there. The reverse is also a possibility, if fuel pump fails, truck shuts down = no oil pressure.

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 5.3 liter vortec why does my truck leak oil only under pressure

because your oil pressure rises to around 40psi when running and will leak at the weakest place, check your oil sending unit first and seals.

What should it be for a gmc sierra 1500 5.3 liter oil presssure

If you are using the gauge that came with the vehicle it's accuracy is not great. These gauges were designed so that at a glance you can see the needle is pointing basically to the middle of the dial. As long as the needle is more od less there, you're okay but the numbers mean nothing due to the gauges in accuracy. If you really want to check the oil pressure, the procedure is pretty easy but requires decent equipment as well as the knowledge of where to tap into the pressurized oil system.

1990 gmc truck 5.7 liter. won't start after throttle body spacer

PVC simply recycles the blow by gases. You have either blown a fuse, or your fuel pump is not delivering gas to the motor.
