The tank will need to be removed and the float or sensor repaired.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter in a Volvo S40 2005

Yes that is correct. The only filter is inside the fuel tank, and as I recall its a non exchangeable filter. It just gets replaced with the fuel pump when it goes bad

SOURCE: 2002 Chevy Suburban: Fuel gauge reads empty, tank is half full

Youre gauge is controlled by a plunger in the fuel tank which is attached to the sensor and the fuel gauge. it sounds like when the plunger goes down half way its either getting stuck down lower then it should. Needs replacing. Any mechanic can do this install for you.

Gas hand on my Volvo v40 doesn't work. Has a new fuel pump. Any ideas on why it's not moving? Has a full tank of gas but showing empty.

If the fuel pump and fuel gauge sensor shares the same housing as is often the case - maybe the person that fitted the pump damaged the sensor or float...
Alternatively it could be a wiring or connector problem, defective gauge or printed circuit.

2001 Volvo s40 seems to stall and not start for ten to 15 min. Also has high temperature reading that is false as car is not really hot.

You need to look at the temp sending unit it's probably faulty anthor issue with volvo is dirty throttle body's this raises havoc on the car they idle up down all over the map also you should change the thermostat too as a precautionary measure make sure it's the right temp for your year of your car thanx Chris

I have a Volvo S40. The fuel gauge is stuck on empty despite having a full tank

Sounds as though the fuel sending unit is either stuck, or the float is broken. Try tapping the tank with a rubber hammer to see if that helps, other then that your next option would be to pull the sending unit out all together and replace.

I have a volvo s40, 2001. The fuel gauge is not working properly, was told it was a bad sending unit, had the fuel pump replaced (it's not possible to just replace the sender) and a software upgrade by the...

This sounds more like a damaged wire shorting out against the frame than a sending unit. My old Volkswagen did the same thing, and with it, the wire from the tank had become corroded with road salt. This may very well be your problem as well, and if so, a simple wire replacement can solve your problem!

Fuel gauge problem, Volvo 960, 1995

it is more than likely the sender if you pull out pump you can manually move sender or you can test gauge by grounding sender the gauge should go to full if none of this happens you need a gauge
