SOURCE: 2001 chev tahoe has no power at a/c clutch checked

IF YOU HAVE 100 PSI ON LOW SIDE.YOU HAVE A EXCESSIVE AIR AND MOISTURE IN THE SYSTEM.YOU HAVE TO HAVE SYSTEM DISCHARGED AT AC SHOP OR DEALERSHIP.YOU HAVE TO REPLACE ACCUMULATOR OR RECEIVER DRIER.HAVE SYSTEM EVACUATE.THEN RECHARGED.SEE YOUR AC IS NOT TO COME ON LONG AS YOUR LOW SIDE TO HIGH.YOUR LOW PRESSURE SWITCH. IS NOT GOING TO CLOSE CIRCUIT TO TURN ON COMPRESSOR.UNTIL PRESSURE DROP AT A CERTAIN LOW PRESSURE.

SOURCE: i need to know where the a/c low pressure switch

Typically you will find this control near the receiver/dryer. DO not override it, as correct pressure is required for the system to LUBRICATE, and if pressure is not appropriate, lube will not flow correctly and system will self destruct, meaning big bills rather than realtively small repair that caused this condition.

On an ac system how do i check the high & low preasure switches and what do these switches operate and what is the purpose of them?

If your 2003 Impala had a low pressure switch it would shut off the compressor if the low side pressure got to low. This would indicate that there is not enough refrigerant in the system an therefore not enough oil flow through the compressor so the compressor is shut down.

The high pressure switch, if your impala had one, would turn on the fan once the a/c pressure on the high side reached a certain pressure.

Switches are just that, they are either on or off. A low pressure is normally on and a high pressure is normally off (this can vary greatly depending on the car).

Your impala uses a pressure sensor. The sensor reports actual pressure data to the PCM which combines info from other sensor to determine what should be turned on and when.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions let me know and I'll see if I can answer them for you.

I have a 2001 chevy impala an my air blows but wont get cold what could be the problem?

Your ac seems to be low on refrigerator, indicating a leak somewhere, you can bring it to your local parts store and purchase r134 a and some ac stop leak for starters.

Compressor will not engage on 2001 Impala? Where is low pressure switch located on 2001 Impala

It is located by the accumulator or dryer , a long canister shaped part, that will

have a pressure switch attached to it, and a two wire molex, if there is freon pressure

in the cannistor, the switch will close and send voltage to engage the clutch on

the compressor, if there is no voltage there the clutch will not work and you may

have a blown fuse or bad switch on your dashboard. i would check for voltage

at the pressure switch 1st, if its there, pull the molex off , jump it out and see if

the clutch engages. if you have power and you jump out the molex and the

clutch does not engage, you could have a bad clutch or bad compressor.

if it does engage, just replace the pressure switch, if you do replace it, make

sure to lube the seal with pag oil. good luck!

NEED TO FIND LOWER PORT FOR RECHARGING AC

I have a 2002 Impala 3.8L
There is one port between the air filter box and strut tower (driver's side). I'm pretty sure that's the low pressure port.
The high port is against the firewall behind the engine, about in the middle.
The ports are covered by black caps.

2006 impala air conditioner not working

If the AC pressure drops too low in the sealed system it will not allow the AC pump to actuate and never cool the air. Have an auto shop attach a pressure meter to the AC fill / test valve and determine if your low. If you are you can get it filled, or purchase aftermarket fill cans at auto shops.
