If I,m going straight there doesn't seem to be a problem but when I make a turn I hear a clunking sound from the rear end. It doesn't sound good.
2008 silverado 2wd hits me with a clunk when i come to stops. feels like someone comes up from behing and bumps me. or like the transmission is downshifting after i stop. what could this be?
The noise is caused by the axle button being worn out, this lets the axle move back and forth and clunk, this is a unique problem with C clip retained axles, it is a noise issue but will not fail and cause any more damage, in order to fix it you must have the axles pulled and the diff carrier checked for excess wear where the axle retainning C clip rides, if the carrier is ok then replace the axles.
Just got my 2008 Silverado out of the shop. It had a "clunk" when I came to a stop or slightly let off the brakes from a stop. Dealer replaced the slip yoke and a grease kit under warranty and problem is solved.
2004 chevy silverado 1500 2wd grinding noise comes from driver side rear only when i hit bumbs. checked brakes, calipers, parking brake cant find what it is. does anybody have any suggestions?
The common fix for this greasing the tranny slip yoke. I have been running my 2000 silverado for 169000 miles like this. it will not damage anything, just a little annoying.
Guess what? They all clunk! I have a brand new '18 Colorado 4X4 and it clunks when I come to a stop. Chevy has no solution that actually works. Chevy's suck! Buyer remorse..
