My daughter has my 2003 Hyundia and it will kill and lock up at a stop light. If she waits ten minutes it will start.

Some security systems can be reset by doing the following: Exit the car with all doors closed and the windows rolled up. Also close and any rear doors such as the trunk, rear hatch and front hood. Lock the car using the key and drivers side lock and walk away from the car at least ten feet. Wait for fifteen minutes then unlock the door using the key, this may reset the security system.

sound like theft security problem.when you try ten minutes did you leave ignition switch on position for ten minutes until the security light turn off then turn off ignition switch for 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.when you do 10 minute trick security light has to turn off or disappear when you see security light go off turn off switch 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.

I have had the same problem. This has happened to me three times in the past nine months or so. Per the owner's manual, you turn the key to the on position and wait about ten minutes. This resets the system and when the "Theft System" light goes out, it starts right up. I did this each time and it started right up.

did you reuse the same pass lock sensor and key lock tumbler? if so the security system shouldn't have to be reset. if you replaced either lock cylinder or pass lock sensor then you have to turn the key to the start position and then to the run position and leave the key on for about ten minutes and wait for the security light to stop flashing. once the light stops flashing do the same process again. it may take up to three times to get the key code encrypted into the BCM. on the third time after the light stops flashing the car should start, if not then you may have another problem.

The Passlock family has two basic relearn procedures-a ten-minute procedure and a thirty-minute procedure-and which one you use depends on the system and what components have been replaced.

The ten-minute procedure involves trying to start the engine. If nothing happens or the engine starts and dies, the security light will be flashing. Wait ten minutes. The flashing light should go off or illuminate without flashing. When it does, turn the ignition off, wait twenty seconds, and then try to start the engine. If it starts and runs, everything is okay. If you get the same result as previously-nothing happens or the engine starts and dies with the security light flashing-wait ten more minutes.

You will now begin the thirty-minute relearn procedure, which is just the ten-minute procedure repeated three times. After turning the ignition off for the third time and waiting for twenty seconds, the engine should start and run. If it doesn't, there may still be something wrong with the system.

After the learn procedure is completed and the engine is running, the security light may stay on steady for a few minutes and then go off-this is normal. Depending on the system, replacement of key components will necessitate that a relearn procedure be completed. These include the ignition lock cylinder, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Body Control Module (BCM), or Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) ............ .Logic lock-up is an internal software issue within a control module which may be cleared by disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module (re-booting the system).

Electronic control modules can develop internal software issues which can cause erratic or no operation of the affected module. In most cases the module can be restored to proper operation by electrically disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module, just as you would reboot your home computer when it begins acting strangely.

Repeated Logic Lock-up failures of the same module would normally warrenty replacement of the affected module.

Ok,here we go,turn the key on,leave it on for ten minutes,then turn key off,and right back on,and repeat this three times,a total of 30 minutes,this will relearn the new ignition cylinder,if this helps,please let us know,than you

turn key to on position leave on for 15 minutes turn key off for 20seconds then then theft lock will reset car should restart

did your old cylinder have wires coming out of it ? did your old key have a chip in it is your security light on? if so the vechicle will not start

Turn the key on and wait for the security light to stop blinking (may take about ten minutes). Then turn the key off and wait for at least one minute. Then try to start. That should program the key chip.

If the engine starts and then quits when you release the key to the ON position it could be the anti-theft systemhas locked out. Turn your key to the ON position and wait ten minutes until the ANTI-THEFT light on the dash board goes out. The car will now start and run if that was the problem.
