Well first have you charged your battery back up, if so then try to by pass the ingintion switch by just connecting the two main post of the colenoid with a piece or wire, this creates a direct wire basically from your battery to your starter, if still no luck you will need a new starter located more to the drivers side close to right under the pedels on the bottom side of the truck.

Even though I bought the vehicle new, there was an aftermarket security system installed. The system had a bad diode, so i removed the system and reconnected the factory wires.

1997 Ford Expedition. When I tried to start it it just clicked one time and that was it.

The most likely reason is that that battery is flat and doesn't have enough amps to make the starter turn the engine. There is a quick test. Turn the headlights on and stand in front of the car. Get someone else to turn the ignition key to start the car. Do the headlights dim to a yellow glow worm? Put it on a charger overnight without disconnecting the battery.

The more scientific way is to take the battery to an Interstate battery shop. They can test the battery for free in less that two minutes. They can also pulse charge the battery overnight to de-sulphate the plates. There is a small charge for this. Or sell you a new battery.

Or the starter solenoid / starter relay has failed.

Is there an electric starter switch on a 2003 ford expedition truck4.6L ? If so where is it located

The electric starter switch is the part that is behind the part your key goes into. Is the security light on steady or flashing rapidly? Have you checked for power at the small wire on the starter with the key in the crank position? Have you tried starting with the transmission in neutral?

When turn onthe key doesnt turn on

Check power to the solenoid on the top of the starter motor when cranking. If power is available, and if the solenoid isn't clicking (operating), then replace solenoid. There is no relay for this.

2003 ford expedition replaced engine now does not crank no power to starter with key in crank position

You need to check the + 've voltage at the solenoid switch which is activated by the ignition key . if there is no power the ignition switch is faulty, if not the solenoid is not working and must be replaced. however if there is power and the solenoid clicks then the fault is with the starter motor. It will be best to remove and check the brush and commutator and check it externally.

98 ford expedition xlt, when i turn key switch on, all it does is make a load clicking sound, battery is new and fulley charged

The Solenoid Switch that controls the starter is bad. If you can get someone to help you. Have them turn the key while you listen under the hood for where ehe clicking is comming from. 2 different Solenoids were used on this model one built on the starter the other mounted on the finder well near the battery. Repair is simple if replacing the Solenoid mounted on the finder well. If it is the starter mounted unit the starter will have to be removed. Most auto parts stores will allow you to use the Chiltons manuel in the their store to lookup removal instructions.Auto Zone, Advanced Auot parts PEP BOYS O'Reillys. All do this as a free service.
Hope this helps
