2002 H1 HUMMER NO CRANK NO START

2002 H1 HUMMER We just purchased this a month ago. It was running fine then we pulled it over to the garage and My husband put on a set of piaa driving lights. the only thing he really removed was the negative battery cable. Once he was done he went to start it and it wouldn't crank. The battery has 12 vts from each on load is 10.9 each the dome light fuse was bloswn and we replace that all the others are fine. There is aviper aftermarket system I wasn't sure that worked if it could disable the ignition. The dash lights all come on and dome lights but you turn the ket and nothing like the starter is bad but it's not we checked we you turn the key there's power to the green solenoid wire and the main power feeds have power to the starter. Any ideas? Thanks so much. is it just a coincidense this happened when installing the lights or does it have something to do with it??? Frustrated cleaned battery terminals checked all the stupid stuff.

You said it yourself: "There is aviper aftermarket system".

Here is a couple clips that shows what the engineers at GM think of this...

SOURCE: Will not start or turn

Steve, take the starter off and have it checked at a local parts store ie:Auto zone, O'reiley's ect. I would be willing to bet that the starter is out. the reason i think this is because of that fact that you said that the lights go out when you turn the ignition to the "start" position, this usually means there is a short in the starter. For a quick fix, you could have someone hold the key in the on position and lightly tap on the starter with a hammer to see if it is just bound up.

SOURCE: 2006 Hummer H3 intermittenly wont start. Have to

Hi, my research on this issue has turned up phantom causes as sticking valves, ignition switch and seat movement.
On some Hummer, it turns out to be sticky valves in the head. GM replaced the head under warranty and the hummer haven't had any more trouble out of it. There is a recall for the 2006/2007 5 cylinder models and you should be able to have this taken care of at no cost.
Do you have a remote start? The H3 Bypass module has an issue with Remote Start. When this happens to you must wait 10 full minutes before trying to start it again (DONT USE REMOTE, USE THE KEY) the bypass module takes 10 minutes to get out of "theft mode" this is in your manual as well, I forgot what page. The only way to get this to full proof work is to get a shop to "OLD SCHOOL" wire around the bypass module.

2002 Old ALERO drove home find didn't start later turned over fine but didn't fire replaced fule pump about 2 months ago

Pull a plug wire , set the end close to the engine, crank it and watch for spark. No spark could be the cranks sensor, wires, ignition module , fuse, or PCM. Have the codes read. Could be the fuel pump too. I have had them die shortly after installs.

Has the fuel pressure regulator been checked?

Check the cam position sensor and crank pposition sensor- they will test like a tansistor, because they are a hall effect transistor. I suspect one of those two sensors may be at fault.

"Check engine" light while everything runs fine

That truck had and OBDII connector under the dash on the driver side . The only was to retrieve the code is with a scanner some parts stores have a small code code tool . You said that their are no Mechanics so you may not have parts stores. You can buy cheap OBD-2 code reads of the web ... they are universal for all cars newer then 1997 if you get one of these and pull the codes and come back to this site i can tell what the codes mean so we can diagnois you engine light .

Location of fuel water seperator on a 2002 h1 hummer / vehical dies out./ cranks but will not run long, idles in park no problem till you drive it around time varies when it cuts out. milage 33,000 thanks...

The fuel/water seperator is located under the hood, driver's side, against the firewall. Black cap and 2 wires going to the bottom. The pump uses an optical sensor so yes, if there was fuel, it would really screw with the system. However, the PMD on these were problematic. This is the control module that is mounted to the side of the injector pump. They have a kit you can purchase to get it away from high heat and will comew with the harness and all to extend it. Would you like a 2003 shop manual for this?

I have a h1 hummer that will not start i have changed the glow plugs and the controler also the box on the injecter pump. I am geting fuel and the glow plugs are working. The hummer has set for a year....

Diesel fuel doesn't go bad like gasoline, at least not as fast. I've been around diesels in construction equipment and sometime a machine will sit for a couple years and still start right up. You have other problems. I don't know that much about the Hummer diesels but, Ford uses a high pressure oil pump to fire the injectors. The main oil pump supplies oil to the high pressure oil pump reservoir and then the high pressure pump supplies oil to the injectors. If Hummer uses a similar system the reservoir may have drained down and there is no oil for the high pressure pump to pump. Ford has plug where a person can fill that reservoir manualy if necessary. Maybe try cranking it some more, don't crank it more than 10-15 seconds at a time. Walk away from it for 10 minutes or so, then try again, make sure you let the glow plugs cycle. If it don't start after a half dozen tries, you may have to have a mechanic look at it. I'm sorry I can't be more help.

My 2002 H1, bogs out going up hills. What is wrong?

I never had a Hummer but I can tell you a couple of things to check. Make sure your fuel(every 30000 miles) and air filter are new. The other thing,my 2001 monte carlo needed a new catalitic converter at 44000 miles. It was acting like your Hummer. I had a high-flow type installed. Yours and mine are both GM,maybe they use the same type cat. Have someone push down on the gas petal while you feel the exhaust flow coming out of the tail pipe. The flow should increase as the gas petal goes down.
I hope this helps you.

What is the adverage time to replace H1 brakes 1998 hummer

Depends on your driving habits. One of the best indicaters if you have never added brake fluid is the level in your master cyclinder. Rotors: if you feel a pulsation in the brake pedal under normal breaking.
